Widest Tires?

What are the widest rims/tires that can fit on a 96 TA? I want 17-18 rims if at all possible.

Are there any bad benefits from wider tires other then tire prices?

id say yur in the wrong section homeboy, but i do believe ive seen 335s on a camaro... extra weight ocould slow you down, and make it harder to brake. a downside to wider tires is weather traction as well.

wider contact area, plus more often than not more rubber to road contact would cause it to roll on top of the water instead of the road because it doesnt get channeled out ( I think...)
