This is the 2003 Chevrolet SS Concept, and will be introduced at NAIAS 2003 early next month. As a member of the media, i have seen about 5 actual photos of this car. All i can say is it is amazing. The looks are drop dead.
So, how does this relate to Camaro? Well, just take a look at the photos. 2nd Gen + 4th Gen Camaro are ALL OVER this car. And while it doesn't carry the Camaro name (for good reason), this is without a doubt a car that is supposed to look like one.
The SS is another of GM's "close to production concept". Its a running car, comprised of a 6.0L V8, C5 front/rear suspension and a C4 transmission. Its 4 doors (yes, 4 full doors), but is a 2+2 seater.
The style is 100% Chevrolet, with bulges over the front and rear wheels, 4 tail lights reminisant of 2nd gen Camaros and current Corvettes, gills in the front, and huge fenders over the front wheels. A power bar in the front completes the Chevrolet brand image.
So, when the real images finally are released on the 5th or 6th (i think), please take a good look, and sit back and be content that Chevrolet is not going to let performance die. And while any future Camaro may or may not be based of this concept, its good to see that the features that Camaro have made a staple of Chevrolet performance have not been forgotten.

Will this car be at the LA show?? In another post it wasn't listed, only in Detriot...anyone? this is the only car that i'm anticipating, please let it be at the LA show!!! From the looks of it, you could make out a camaro, but to me it screams 1970 Chevelle SS(71' taillights)...either way, this is what GM needs!

Drawings are hard to tell much about, but I'll have to agree with you. Now if the real car doesn't look like the drawings, I can change my mind, right!

The real car looks BETTER than the drawings.

Don't get in trouble, just anything you can tell.
Oh yeah, is it going to be a Camaro?
I think it would make an interesting Chevelle or Impala even... but not a Camaro.
And, for the record, I do not like the front clip at all... the rest is OK....

For the one hundreth time... the SS Concept is going to be developed into the Chevelle SS and NOT, I repeat NOT, going to morf into some 5th gen Camaro.
If anyone cannot see the retro early 70's Chevelle influences in both the nose and tail of the concept sketches... please, check your Chevrolet enthusiast membership cards at the door!
