Re: Why is this called 5th gen discussion

Theres alot of sections on this site that some consider a waste...Id say this is one of em...there has been nothing but BS and speculation and dumb drawing posted in this section over and over again since its inception...Id say the GTO section is another...seeing it has an LS1 engine it should just be placed in there...same w/ that section..the same **** is posted over and over again there. I think GM is more interested in making hopped up 4 cyclinders (cobalt)rather then another camaro

The good part is... if you feel this way, you can just avoid these sections (5th Gen, GTO, etc).

You keep showing up in them though for some reason or another...

Try to search around www.ls2.com. I think they have the info up somewhere pertaining to not allowed stuff to be posted here. These are several sites that have this info actually. Not a big secret by any means.

Great, because I saw that thread on LS2 also. No big deal and that info never came from GM. I thought I missed something.

What I never see though is any discussion of the 200 Million dollor loan interest free GM took from the Canadian Government to build the plant in St Larent, the loan that is attached to the camaro name.

The loan was due 2017 and the plant should have open till 2017.

There is also 100 million in tax breaks that GM will also be responsible for, they took the money on the codition the camaro firebird would be built at ST Larent and nowhere else.

So GM builds the car again and have to pay back all that money they already spent

Maybe I am wrong but the information is public knowledge
Check with the CAW union.

There was also an article in Popular Hot Rodding sept 2004.

Re: Why is this called 5th gen discussion

The reseason why there is not information on the 5th gen is plain & simple GM has not released any information on it. When GM decides to release it I am sure the boards will be full of true information & more disinformation on the car then true facts.

The one person that did know information on the possiblity of a 5th gen no longer posts here because he got tired of the whiny babys that started to demand that he post something. They didnt care if he would lose his job or not.

There are some of us on these boards that will go to no ends to protect those that work for GM that might or might not be on the boards.

What kind of company would fire somebody for giving information about their products to the customers who want to buy it? Not the kind of company I want to give my money to. Is it Red's fault he can't tell us anything? Nope, it's the morons in charge of him. Doesn't make it any better. His rant like it's our fault that the company he works for doesn't want to tell us about the products we want to buy. If "keep the faith" isn't enough to win over the people who are keeping his company in business, he should be mad at the company, not the people. We're not the ones who told him to pretend like Camaro fans aren't allowed to know anything about Camaros.

Re: Why is this called 5th gen discussion

Guys and gals...the information was removed from this site because it was Copyrighted Material used without permission....and no-one wanted to risk a lawsuit....ala BON. I did not realize that and there were some "discussions' between some of us to clear it up. I totally agree with the decison now.

Let's move on....please?

GM does NOT talk about future product....period.

It's hard enough to move last year's models when the word get's out about the new one's....much less giving your competition a heads up on your future plans.

The only real mystery left (even when you think you know the reasons) is all the cloak and dagger surrounding even the mention of the Camaro's return......weird ain't it?

Like I have told you in the past & that you dont seem to get it so this is the last time so please listen.

Gm LIKE any other car company or any company does not annouce any thing about a product they are working on until it is about to be released. That way they keep the other companies from coming out with something better.

The Automotive industries does not put out information on a Car until about 18months or even less before the car goes in to production.

Anyone putting out infromation about a car before hand is thought as a Liability & can not be trusted with any type of infromation there for they are fired.

Think of it as this way: You do not go around telling your enemies that you are going to attack them at a set time on a set date because if you do they would be ready for you & may have a stronger more powerfull army & can defeat you hands down. ANyone in your army that is releasing this infromation to the enemy is branded a spy & put to death.

IS THIS CLEAR OR DO YOU WANT ME TO SPELL IT OUT FOR YOU?????????

The only legitimate reason is what you posted, GM knows people will wait for good cars and how are they going to move the *ahem* great cars they have now if people realize something better is coming?

As far as giving competition a heads up? Please. There are people who's jobs it is to know what the competition is doing, I'm sure every little aspect of what GM is doing is known to their competition, and vice versa. A hell of a lot more than we'd ever know, that's for sure. It's naive to think that Toyota or Ford doesn't know what GM is doing until they see it on this website. You think if it doesn't come through here they'll just wait for press releases? Yeah, ok!

The Camaro secrecy IS a mystery. Why is GM insistent on alienating the biggest single car fanbase they have? No idea. I'd love to know the reason, but GM apparently thinks they're working on a spyplane and not a car that's being sold to the public.

Re: Why is this called 5th gen discussion

OK so there is no new info.

GM does not talk about a camaro because they are building a car (zeta right)
would like to call it a camaro but have to pay Hundreds of millions of dollors to the Canadian government if they use the name.

So GM hopes that if they don't talk about it the dumb Canadians will forget about the 300 million.

Might have worked if the plant they had closed was in Ontario, it wasn't it was in Quebec and they are the masters of " the squeaky wheel ".

So we will have a new car the only question is GM's negotiations with Canadian Government and there release of GM from there obligation.

If they pay they get the camaro name back.

And if they don't talk about it they hope we will forget

fat chance

Thats right there is no new information that GM is releasing.

The Name Camaro can officially be used *to the best of my knowledge* in 2007 or even as early as 2006. With out being paid for.

So we TRUE Camaro lovers are holding out hope that the Camaro would reappear in 2007 or 2008
