Its already been mentioned a bit but the C5 Z06 used the FRC body style to save weight and hopefully cost (didnt' really work that much). The C6 Z06 uses a hatchback for aerodynamic purposes (they want to achieve the highest top speed of any corvette to date) and also to show a stronger link to the C6-R.
