Who will "earn"the most loyal enthusiasts by the end of the decade?
I had to go for Dodge on this, with Ford a close second. The Dodge now has the high end (viper) and low end (neon) covered, which, honestly is the most important. You need the halo to draw ppl in and establish street cred, then have an affordable option for the regular folk to actually buy. They will shortly have the gap filled to which is the only area where Ford has them beat at the moment.
I'm waiting for any response to the GT from the Viper team... gotta add at least another 50hp
, or lose some weight or both
.
By the end of the decade, who knows what'll happen. If things keep going the way they are now (hp wars) we'll be able to drive 350hp neons, 500hp Mustang GTs, 800hp ford GTs and Vipers. However, you and i both know thats probably not going to happen, but hey I can't imagine myself complaining
So if we are to get the unmentionalble chevy coupe by then it'd better be the best thing since someond decided to slice a loaf of bread!

Cars that we will see soon that are not exotics are 500 hp Mustangs. 440 hp Chargers. 400+ hp Magnums and 300C's. Near 350hp (at the flywheel) SRT-4's are already possible...with the installation of Mopar's Stage IV performance package.
As far as Mustang goes.....
What we know for sure is, there will be an under $25,000 Mustang GT, and a $60,000 Cobra R. All of the performance models in between are speculative....but there coud be as many as SIX of them!
As far as Charger goes...
It hasn't even been introduced yet, and already rumors are leaking out of "special" performance models. Of course the expected R/T. But also a limited edition Daytona model and a 6.1 HEMI SRT-8.
Certainly...these cars will win over lots and lots of enthusiasts.

I have little to no faith in GM anymore, I am tired of just waiting because everytime it gets pushed back a year or two.
My next performance car will sadly be a Mustang.
I pretty much hate Mustangs and the rest of Ford, but I have to admit it's basically the only product right now that can rightfully be called an affordable muscle car. The GTO is great and all, but it's just too expensive to be an affordable car for young people. It's for older guys who want to relive their GTO memories, not for kids getting into the muscle car scene.
I think the LX cars will develop a huge following, and here's why: they're using a high-volume commodity platform with hi-po V8 capability. That translates to tons of LX cars out there, which means a big aftermarket, even if most of them are V6s. Most 1st-gen F-bodies were V6s, but look at 'em now -- they've all got hi performance V8s swapped in.
Picture things 15 years from now. How easy do you think it'll be to find an LS1 SS or a GTO? But you'll be able to get a lame V6 LX car cheap and pull a junkyard Hemi out of one of the million or so Rams that will be around by then. It'll be the Chevy 350 all over again.

Ford, no competition. And I've always been the anti-Ford guy. Everyone in my family has a Mustang or a Ford truck, and I have the Fbody.
But man, do I now hate this piece of worthless junk conglomerate called "GM."
They apparently could care less about a racing heritage, and the "way of life," which is what Ford has been focusing on so strongly the past few years. GM just wants to sell their POS SUV's and minivans. I love my motor, I love 4th gen fbodies, but GM is now basically a joke of a company to anyone under the age of 40.
The only cars worth while from GM? Caddilacs. Wtf? I'm 19, I NEVER imagined myself saying that - but thats the truth. SSR? What an ugly piece of junk, who wants a convertible truck that weighs 4600lbs? Old men who build hotrods? Wow, that's a large portion of America. Now they have an option between the Prowler AND the SSR, WOO WOO!
GM - STICK TO WHAT WORKS! Noone wants your crappy little "American Revolution" with a bunch of kids with a basketball and gold chains piling into a "compact" 5door car thats "not that small, its pretty big."
