What? You mean we've had SS vs Z28 debates before?

Seriously though, Burmite is right. Let's focus on giving good input to Chevrolet & GM over the 5th gen, and let's not blow it like some of the GTO guys did.

IMHO, we should assume the car is basically done, and we should give input into what we like that doesn't require a reengineering of the whole car. This means a 2000 pound 600 horsepower $20,000 car is out of the question, but a traction control switch, better power windows, white faced gauges, or even deep sixing those automatic headlights are still very much in.

Now, about that V16 engine....

I think it's because we've discussed so many aspects and things we want in the 5th Gen already that we're getting back to things like Z28 vs. SS. M*stang and GTO posts are coming back alot now for a while, and soon it'll be C6 posts watch.

You know...we've pretty much discussed every apect of a 5th gen Camaro here. Which platform? How big? How small? Which options? Which powertrains?......and on and on.

But you know which debate seems to evoke THE MOST emotion here. Should we ignore that? Should we pretend it doesn't exist? We sure can't talk about it over on StangNet.

I can see how those that don't care one way or the other could find it tiresome. But many feel passionately about this unresolved issue.

Some variety is nice, but you can't ignore the elephant in the room for ever.

I used to read and post in this forum all the time while I was at work and at home. Due to the recent barrage of Z28 vs. SS threads, I couldn't care less whether I check this forum 3 times a day or once every 3 days. True there's no news right now, I know. But resorting to Z28 vs. SS threads is lame. Then on top of that, we get an interesting thread going and some assclown comes along and takes the word "Z28" in the thread and makes it his duty to convert it to a Z28 vs. SS thread.

You guys know who you are. Give it a rest please? PLEASE???

I want the 5th gen as much as you do, but this forum is becoming lamer amd lamer when all we do is post about Z/28 vs. Z28 and Z28 vs. SS all the time.

GuionM even posted before that now is the time to say what we want in a 5th gen! Trusting him as I usually do, I say we post, as we have been recently, about REALISTIC things that we want to see on the 5th gen! You know... exclude the desire for the weight of a go-kart, a 9000hp supercharged dragster engine, handling of a slot car, and a base price for the V8 around $15.73 not including the $30.12 rebate on it.

Realistic being: sigma and VE hybrid platform to be shared with the GTO, around a 3400 lb curb weight, an LS2 engine with around 420hp, and about a mid $35k price range for the top model (note the lack of a Z28 or SS listed there to avoid a Z28 vs. SS discussion here).

If not, then I think I'm going to go post somewhere else in my free time at night, or maybe I'll go study, read a book, clip my toenails, poke my eyeball, make booze in my bathtub, build a zepplin on my patio, etc. Just something else with my free time.
Agreed!

I just want a sporty RWD V8 Chevrolet coupe that speaks "Camaro".

Z/28, Z-28, Z28 or SS mean nothing to me... just call it Camaro and offer a Cobra Killing drivetrain, a great handling package, and a hood scoop as options... and I'll be down at my local Chevy dealer with checkbook in hand to place my order.

Heck.... I'd actually prefer if there were no visible difference between the base V6 and the super-duper V8 model. (I love sleepers! )

Just make sure you call it "CAMARO".

Good one!

Don't forget, the Z/28 was almost called "Cheetah".

I don't think the wording "Z28 vs. SS" necessarily means that they are opposed to each other in some sort of death match. It can mean comparing the two aspects of Camaro. As I said earlier, the 4th gen SS and Z28 suffered from an identity crisis. I'd like to see GM define each of them clearly so that they are distinct.

Common sense tells us to avoid threads whose topic we don't care for. In addition, joining a discussion to voice displeasure that the discussion is taking place is hypocritical, isn't it?

If someone wants to "give it a rest", then by all means he should follow his own advice. But he shouldn't tell other people, who want to discuss something, to stop.

The most emotion in "some" people perhaps....but I think we beat that horse to death a long time ago...........please....I'm beggin' ya.....MOVE ON.........it gets ridiculous when threads are hijacked from one subject right into the same old SS vs Z28........

The ONLY thing I've seen new on the subject in the past two years was a thought to giving the Z28 code to a special performance suspension.......that's the ONLY thing new..........

I don't think everyone posting here wants the Z28 to just be a suspension package. I think that, the Z28 guy's at least, want the Z28 to be the top performing model. IMO if there needs to be an SS it can have the V8 and all the other extra non-performance dodad's on it.

Well what can I say. "Some" of us Camaro enthusiasts feel that we've been left in limbo. And since our automotive world revolves around Camaros, it's not easy to snap your fingers and move on.

Also, I think we've put forth ALOT of great NEW ideas on how to make the Z/28 better, (and the SS).

So if you want me to move on....build me my car...I'll write you a check...and then I'll gladly move on to some more important debate, like "Hood Tachs On GTO's".
