not for another 5 years? They just got a redesign. In a year or so they are getting a new interior with minor upgrades. This year they get more power. The 5.3 is now rated at 310hp. Im sure mechanical upgrades such as trans, and hybrid designs are coming in now. I dont expect to see a next gen silverado coming out for some time.

I think most of GM's trucks are getting a FULL redesign (exterior and interior) around '06. This last one was just a freshening up. Have to wait for an insider's input to confirm though, that date is just what I've heard.

Hybrid Silverado is out now for fleet customers. It will be out in '05 for regular consumers.

I thought '07 was the Date for the new Silverado? New Avalanche pics are already floating around the web.

The latest 'redesign' was nothing but a cosmetic change to keep sales going a little bit longer. Same with a few minor changes to the interior like the guages, radio, and switch gear on the doors. And same with a few small bumps in power to the same lineup of motors, and the addition of a few options like the new bed liner and the 4-door 1/2-ton. But underneath it all, the Silverado and Sierra haven't been changed since 99 and the Tahoe, Suburban, and their GMC and Cadillac brothers haven't been changed since 2000.

According to everything I've read, GM will be doing a group-up redesign for the Silverado during either the 2006 model year or in the year 2006.. not sure which. If it was like the last redesign, the Tahoe and Suburban won't follow suit until another model year later, but considering how much GM has been trying to expedite their engineering process, and how much easier it is to modify a body on frame vehicle to meet whatever dimensions you want to meet... they may shoot for a same year release.

Lutz nixed a complete redesign along the lines of the Cheyenne concept. There will be a new front clip in 2006. Unlike the 2003 "nose job" that failed to make it to the Tahoe in 2004, this should be for both the big trucks and SUVS.

The new Silverado should come at the end of the decade, no doubt delayed by all of the spending on passenger cars.

Magna International Inc. will assemble transfer cases for General Motors Corp. at two U.S. plants, trade publication Ward's Automotive says. Magna won a contract to supply the parts for the next generation of GM pickup trucks, which will go into production beginning in 2007. The Ward's article did not say whether Magna would build two new plants to assemble the transfer cases or make them at existing factories, including New Venture Gear in Syracuse, N.Y., which assembles the current transfer cases and which Magna is negotiating to purchase from DaimlerChrysler AG.

I think the 5.3 is rated 5 HP less than the last 5.3 right now.

It alreaddy has a hybrid option for fleet sales, all customers will have that option next year.

I think 2007/08 is a good prediction.

THe '05 Silverado get a L33 5.3L rated at 310HP

Envoy and TB Ext get a LH6 5.3L with DoD rated at 290HP

anyone know have these new engines are different from the older LM4, LM7, & L59 other than DoD on the LH6?

is the 310HP 5.3L a Gen IV?
