What Would You Like To Know From Mark Reuss? For GMHTP Interview
I understand that he won't comment on potential future projects. Besides what has already been mentioned I would like to offer the following.
"Why have recent green lighted concept cars been followed through, in the eyes of your more enthusiastic customers, so half-heartedly?"
The SSR was originally shown as a 6.0 300+ hp vehicle. Now its a 5.3 with 285 hp. The Silverado SS was going to be a 390+ hp monster. Now it has morphed into an overweight 340 hp machine. When the CTSi was announced it was going to terrorize the Germans with its LS6. Now it makes do with the LS1. The XLR was shown with a blown 400 hp Northstar. Now it has a NA 315 hp motor. Anybody see a pattern here? I'm not expecting an exact duplicate be made of these concepts but one would expect that they wouldn't deviate so far from the original. I mean they took such great pride in the freakin' Aztec, saying how little it was changed from the concept.
This doesn't even mention the Grand Prix G8 concept that would have people lined up out the dealership door to purchase. It doesn't mention either the next generation GP. It was going to boast 280-300 hp and now will have around 250 hp. Why? The engineers just shrugged and said that the current tranny couldn't take it? Well then it is time for a new tranny design. It's not like the present generation hasn't made any money for them.

Here is a question:
Why isnt GM using its space frame technology to build sports cars (like other manufacturers) instead of only Saturns. A RWD sports car like fiero could be built in a Saturn plant since it has the same door reinforcements, honeycomb bumper bar covers and a space frame similar to the saturn.
This platform is inexpensive, low weight, safe (5 * crash rating) and extremely flexible. (The Saturn S series and the Vue were built on the same space frame!!)

If I could give you guys some advise on how to phrase your questions, it's best if you focus on just one question as opposed to rambling through a laundry list of everything you don't like. Also it might result in a better answer if you couch your question in more favorable light. This is not "60 Minutes," it's a friendly dialog between a manufacturer and it's enthusiast customers. Of course, we will ask tough question, but if they are downright antagonistic, I guarantee you they will not produce the desired result of positive information flow!
Also, very important, I need your full name and hometown for your question to get on the list. Please go back and edit your post with this info and feel free to edit/trim your questions.

What kind of, if any, relationship does chevy plan on having with SLP? Would future SS cars(camaro please) be built in house or farmed out to other companys if SLP doesn't build them?

How important is the availability of the manual transmission in your scheme of performance things? Will there be a wider range of passenger cars with manual transmissions as an option/standard equipment?

This is what my dad has alwyas thought about where GM went wrong:
In the 50's especially, GM was the most innovative automaker out there, and they sold like mad. Now they have fallen behind and dont have much technological breakthrous lately compared to other auto makers. When will GM be on top again?
I also really like the post about LOW priced performance and where GM will be.

After the swing to Bob Lutz, would you say the performance side of GM will gain momentum. Not only in smaller sporty cars but also with respect to full size cars and trucks as well?

I know that we can't expect any detail or specific response, nor will he deal with any question specifically targeting a model. Negativity is also a no no.
“Clearly we are in the middle of a horsepower war. What message would you like to send to loyal Chevrolet fans out there, in respect to the future of Chevrolet’s role in this battle? With the exception of the Corvette, do you have a message of hope?”

How about this:
Mark, while there are numerous new products coming out from GM RWD and V8's, those customers who are typically interested in the Camaro, Mustang and Trans AM now only have Ford as a choice.
Is GM abandoning this market permanently?
..... Next question .....
Given the sucess of the Grand National, LS1 and LT1 cars in amateur (and even professional) drag racing, does GM view the performance aftermarket as an ally in boosting car sales?
.... Next Question ....
Is it worthwhile to design cars for the performance market with the idea that they are going to be modified for added performance, even when some of the components will not be supplied by General Motors or GMPP?

Two questions:
Cadillac's performance plans seem to be well underway with the upcomming V-series, and the upcomming GTO is generating a great deal of excitement. Even though the forthcomming supercharged Impala SS seems to be poised to be a lower cost performance car, do you see a low cost (under $30,000), rear drive, hi-performance vehicle returning to GM in the near future?
Do you see the imported GTO as a trial balloon to gauge intrest in the possible return of performance coupes?

And how about some difference in models.
