What will the HHR's sales be like?
Re: What will the HHR's sales be like?
Does anyone know when it is coming out date wise?
I think it will sell relatively well if they did not skimp on interior quality to get a low sticker price. If it is a typical GM interior, it might not be received well.

I think it's going to do pretty well. GM is diving into the accessories market with this something fierce, the thing is priced to move, and Chrysler isn't restyling the 7 year old PT till a year later.
I believed the Scion Xa was going to grossly outsell the Xb, but the accessories available & the price of them proved me wrong. I think the HHR is going in the same direction.
It probally won't outsell the PT, but I think it's figures will surprise alot of people. I predict over 60,000 (I have a feeling GM is lowballing the HHR like it's doing with the Solstice, though not as extreme).

I'll be test driving a lot of cars this fall to replace my 94 bravada. The HHR is on the list. If its comfortable and rides nice, the price is certainly an eye catcher. I need cargo room (74cu ft on the bravada) and good mpg. I want something that fun to drive (read: stick). Something I dont feel upset about getting into for a daily driver.
I wont buy a minivan, hate them.
SUV's? I'd consider an Equinox or Vue. "Consider". You'd need to give a stick, which is only the 4 cylinder Vue. If price was low I'd consider it, but I dislike SUV's.
Malibu Maxx looks great, but starting at $22,500, only 41cu ft of storage, and only an automatic, even with the ultra high priced SS.
Vibes are good as well, can be had for under $20k, 54cu ft of storage, and can easily be had with a stick. They ride well and are decently comfortable. I dont like this year's styling though, the engine needs to be wound really high to get any gusto, its a little small for me, and a little short in the cargo department.
And now the HHR. Well equipped under $20k, 63cu ft of storage and also can be had with a stick. Hmmmm...
I'm a GM nuthugger. What can I say? I'm loyal if I can be. If its good enough to get me past the looks (or it just looks darn good in person) it rides well and the seats are nice I might just get one. We'll see. But by the numbers for cargo, size, and cost alone it looks like it might be a great option.
Edit:
I'll be driving one this fall and we'll see how things go. It might just feel like and ride like a funny minivan. But it might not. Thats my one worry. Cause the seats (with flip down arm rests) scream minivan.
