What will the HHR's sales be like?

This board seems pretty divided on the HHR's chances for success. Me, I'm on the pessimistic side, but I'm curious as to where everyone else stands.

In the first full year of sales, what level will the HHR reach?

Said it from the beginning. If it breaks 50K, I'll eat my hat.

(I do hope I'm wrong.)

I think it can do up to 80,000. Chevy is being optimistic with the 100,000/year goal. It's not bad looking, but the styling and the whole concept has been done.

You guys know that Chevy recently downgraded it's sales forecast to 60,000.

I stand by my assertation that it will be a huge failure.

Maybe if we were having this discussion, oh, say... FOUR YEARS ago these sales figures and some optimism would be valid. Once again, someone should have stayed home, they were a bit late to the party, once again

Didn't hear that. What's the reason? Cutting your sales projections for a new model by 40% is pretty significant...and pretty telling.

I hadn't heard that ... good to hear some reality has crept in.

I have no problem with the concept of a mini-minivan; in fact I think it's a great idea. It's the perfect vehicle for folks who want to be able to carry a bunch of stuff economically and not look like a dork doing it. My issue is that Chevy followed DCX's PT formula almost to a tee and that's all that anyone's going to notice. Chevy should have cut their own path style-wise to made it look like brand new type of vehicle. Then people would be more likely to view on its own merits instead of automatically going into comparison mode.

It would seem to me like suddenly downgrading a sales projection for a new model by 40% would tick some people off on the product board....don't they have to do reasonably accurate business proposals before anything can get to market?

Re: What will the HHR's sales be like?

It's a "late-to-the-party" PT Cruiser alternative.

But, it's newer, fresher.... and priced right.

It shoudl sell just fine. I'd expect 60-80,000 or so.

All you people saying it's 4 years late, it's doomed to flop, etc.................... do you have the same feelings about a Camaro that's going to come out......... "4 years late"?

People are underestimating the price point on HHR. It provides something kind of unique and stylish (if that is you kind of thing) in a price range that it is all but impossible to find something that stands out.

Re: What will the HHR's sales be like?

It is too affordable and practicle to be a flop. It will at least out sell ug-boxes like the XB and Element. I betting on over 75,000. The Vehicle comes with well equiped at a great price, the only thing that might hold it back is the Retro thing.

It's another vehicle that looked good in early design renderings etc., but looks nothing like the early plans, or nearly as good as I thought it would.
Hard to tell how well it'll sell. I guesss it depends on what the "employee price" is.

I expect it to do well.

IMO it's screaming for an AWD option. That would set it up to for "conquest" sales into the "cute-ute" segment.
