I like Mako. IMO, the C6 bodystyle has so much "heritage" that evolved from the Mako's, it's fitting to call it Mako. And with that Blue color we've all seen. Short & Sweet, or K.I.S.S.!

Re: What should the top Corvette be called...

Whoo Hoo! A Corvette question! The "stingray" names (both spellings) were just an addtional name added to the Corvette. All Corvettes were stingrays, and vice versa, no option codes or special models. They dropped the name in either 77, or after the 77MY, I don't recall, replaced the Stingray script w/ the crossed flags emblem that had been on the cars in that spot up until 66 or 67.

I guess if they're gonna shoot down my ZR2 idea because of some S10 from 10 years ago that no one remembers, I'm gonna have to shoot down stingray for the top model simply because all Corvettes were stingrays for 15 years. Would also shoot down ZR1, its already been done twice. ZL1 would get my vote.

I know it probably wouldnt fly, but what about keeping it just ZO6, but with a slight hood bulge to clear the blower, and the badges updated to reflect the power output...

Really, the damn ZO6 is going to be cop bait as it is. I dont think a stupid-powerful Vette is going to need any more street presence.

No problem. I have to admit though, I didn't vote till just now. I couldn't decide till I saw that. Good call. I voted something new, which it (Mako) would be.......technically as it hasn't been used AFAIK! It looks to be based on the Z06.......So maybe Z06/Mako edition! Just MO!

I do not think the corvette should get the cool flagship name. The cobra; muscle car, Cuda; muscle car, Corvette............sports car. Doesnt quite fit the bill. Now a SC camaro........

FWIW, corvettes were originally a type of sailing ship. They were known to be light, fast and highly manuverable with a lot of firepower.

IMHO GM picked a pretty appropriate name for their plastic sports car.

Specifically they chose that name because they were sub hunters in WWII, and/or the type of ship that carried Princess Leia at the beginning of Star Wars.
