ZL1 makes great sense to me. Dunno how marketable that is though...

My choice would be L88. From 1967 to 1969 Chevy sold about 216 cars at dealerships which were 600 hp Corvettes called L88. Would be the proper use of a heritage inspired name.

Keep it simple stupid .

C6R

Let the top dawg street car share the name with the top dawg race car . I think the people that could afford the thing might get all fuzzy at the thought of having their own C6R .

I'd go with Grand Sport.

How about not giving it a "name" just let people know it by it's option code (ie: z28)

I think you meant to type (eg: z28).

I voted Something New. I think "Corvette Something New" just works.

I'd kind of like to see the heritage stuff left behind on this one and forge a new name on its own. That'd be pretty cool.

If they add a third tier to the Corvette lineup, it will probably not be known by its option code or whatever. It will need a complete name. My vote is for Stingray.
I don't think it should be called stingray. Besides some subtle cues, the car really does not resemble the stingray body style at all, and it would sound pretty strange to name the car after a previous bodystyle. Why don't we just call it the c6 "c6" then. I am for ZL-1, it seems fitting enough. A top dog Corvette, made in small numbers, only a few can afford. Just like the original, only hopefully not to the extreme where only 2 are actually built.

They'll probably create a new name.
Yeah, but stingray wasn't an RPO code, it was the name of the bodystyle. Z06 has never been referred to as a body style, it is always a handling and performance package. Maybe they will come up with a new name, but I still say ZL-1 would work. The car would certainly be bad *** enough to carry that name, if it were to ever be built.

No, there were c2 stingrays as well. Maybe I am not coming across the right way here. Chevy high performance stuff typically doesn't have a name to go with a trim level, just the RPO to designate the vehicle. I can't really see an ultra high performance Vette being called Blue Devil or Sting Ray or whatever, as this doesn't really jive with the other high performance offerings at Chevy. ZR-1, ZL-1, z06, z51, etc all go along with the theme at Chevy. They could always go and change it though, nothing is written in stone.

As far as I am aware of. Maybe someone with more Corvette knowledge will chime in here and give us the details.

Sting Ray refers to a 2nd generation body style based on the Mako Shark concept.

Stingray refers to the 3rd generation body style (including the 1968, although it didn't say Stingray on it) based on the Mako Shark II concept. The name was dropped for 1977.

For all intents and purposes they were names for the cars and not for any option packages.
