What should the top Corvette be called...
What should the top Corvette be called...
If a supercharged LS7 comes out should it be the next step in Z06 performance, or should it get a new name and therefore be a third model)? Pick or post your favorite.

Re: What should the top Corvette be called...
I actually thought the C6 Z06 should have been "Z07" or somethign else... they haven't really carried over top-performance names in the past, so I thought it was a little wierd to do it now, but the C5 Z06 was such a success, I imagine they wanted to keep riding that wave.

LT1, LS6, ZR-1, Z06, are all codes from the past the Corvette has dug up and re-used... but nothing has really carried over from one generation to the next in modern use.
It's not that big of a deal to me... I just thought ti was a little interesting that they did it here... again, I think it's mainly because the C5 Z06 was such a success...

I kind of liked the Blue Devil name. Give the engine blue covers signifying that it is the sinister beast powering this king of Corvettes.
...also, I think the Z51 should get badges.

Re: What should the top Corvette be called...
ZR1 hands down. The Sting Ray or Stingray names did not denote anything other than C2 and C3 respectively. SS signifies affordable performance or the appearane of performance. While Z06 would also be a worthy choice, ZR1 has already been applied to the only Corvette with DOHC. The Z06 was not as exotic as the ZR1 and never carried as exotic of a price. If there is going to be three levels of Corvette, it makes sense to call the top one ZR1; if the SC LS7 is the only motor other than the base, then continue to ride the Z06 wave.
Re: What should the top Corvette be called...
Come on now....you missed one....the ZR2!! Look it up in Corvette history. I think it's perfect, if you're into using old codes. Oh ok, for all you who don't want to look it up, it was an old school ZR1 with a 454 instead of the LT-1
Although since the ZR2 had a rat, I suppose it's more appropriate for the LS7 rather than a supercharged LS9 was it? LS7 isn't a big block I know, but it has big block cubes
.
Here's a quick description of it, down at the bottom....

Ya, I was kind of stunned when ZR-2 ended up on S-10s, Blazers, and even (gasp) Trackers in the 90's...

I think that pretty much did away with any chance of it ending up on a Corvette...

Gosh, I hope that was meant as a joke.
