What has Jon Moss been up to lately?
Jon has been very busy building stuff.....and much if it was shown at SEMA this fall in Vegas...in terms of Chevy stuff, Equinox Extreme, Aveo Extreme, Colorado Extreme, and Malibu Extreme...as well as a host of Z71 concepts on trucks. The TrailBlazer SS that was shown a year ago will most likely make production. He's also been very involved with the other GM divisions........ (and before anyone makes a crack about Equinox Extreme....don't knock it until you see it in person..won't appeal to those of us who love V8s and RWD...BUT....has Jon ever built anything slow????)
Jon is probably looking to retire in the not too distant future....and if and when he does, I, for one, will mourn that day. He's been a great friend ... and a great guy to work with. Moreover, he's kept the passion for performance alive thru the 'dark times' at GM.

Thanks for the update RP, I haven't seen anything out of the SEMA show this year. I guess it may still be alittle early but usually I would have seen something on TV by now.
I've never met Jon Moss in person, but over the past decade or so, I've had numerous phone conversations with him. Lemme tell you guys, not only is he the consummate car fanatic, he is also a hell of a nice guy and gentleman.
I'm not sure who has a better job.....Jon or RP?
I agree with RP....when Jon retires, the performance GM universe will be diminished.

I saw him on a show the other night on The Speed Channel. He was showing off all his toys and some old, rare GM cars.
I've heard he was going to retire. That will be sad. He is a legend.
Once again, thanks for the update Red!!

I as well heard that he would be retiring soon and it is going to be a sad day indeed. I have longed to meet the genius behind the 600HP Camaro (red, yellow and white) and the man behind the ZL1 Camaro among his other creations (RWD Lumina???? or Monte)
If only he could have one more re-match with Colletti to end his illustrious career at GM's skunk works say perhaps with a heavily modified 5th Gen. Camaro and GTO taking on the Cobra and Boss.
PS this is all in good fun and please don't hijack this thread about how the futur cars from diff. camps will beat each other. Thank you. (I didn't speculate on who would win so please don't either)

I saw Jon Moss at SEMA. It's no wonder that he was responsible for the mid-90's Impala SS. He's really tall!
I didn't get a chance to speak with him, but from what I saw when he was on My Classic Car, he seems like a great guy. It would have been fun to have talked to him. It's a shame he's retiring, he's a true car guy.
RedPlanet,
I guess I'm not around here enough to know, but what do you do? Just curious.

Wow it'll be sad to see Jon go...I still remember some of Jon's crazy creations for the 3rd gens. Tell him best wishes from us over here at Camaroz28.com!
I hope GM has someone worthy to fill his shoes if he does retire, who else is going to shut Colletti up?

welll....keep a couple of things in mind......
GM Retirees sometimes have a way of NOT going away....still working in the background......not sure exactly when Jon will retire....and even if he does, (and this is just conjecture) I have a feeling it will not be the last we see of him! Truly a great guy. (and yep, he's REALLY tall...not too many people make me feel short!)
Remember John Heinricy? (F-car chief engineer? Race Driver? hands in Corvette and Camaro/Firebird for years?) ....well....guess who works within GM Performance Division??? With people like John H. and many others....the end is NOT near......far from it.

I met Jon a few years back at the St. Ignace car show in the GM display. Really nice guy, and as was said, very tall! I could tell he was nervous with all the people around his hotrods. Can't blame him though!
