Nice work. Now take aaaaaaaaall those performance options and add them to the price of the base SS. What do you have (2002) 345hp pak and a different suspension set-up that was installed at SLP for mid-high 30's (I've seen them sticker at 37k). Compared to 310hp on the Z28 at mid-high 20's. Now the question at hand which performed better. 1st off I don't remember seeing a magazine test were the SS was faster than a Z28. 2nd going to the dragstrip and autocross I never seen an SS beat out a Z28. So you tell me what did your 10k get you? NOTHING!!! The only thing I could come up with is some nice badges, fancy wheels, scoop, spoiler and bragging rights for more hp.
I think thats the definition of SS.

I would hate to live with you...I bet you wake up screaming from nightmares about a 5th Gen SS being the top model.
FWIW I think that Chevy is position SS as the designation for all it's top performers not named Corvette. You don't like it...tough, it's how they are doing it. Is it revisionism? I would say the current SS cars can hold there own quite well against SS's of the past. I don't wanna be around when they role out the Cobalt SS

I want two things before this goes any further:
steves, what car do you own? 4th gen Z28? Give me the mod list.
Z284ever, you too. Car, year, mod list.
Pandamonkey...
"Compared to competition SS means - SUPER SLOW..........."
Oh really... Name the car and I'll be happy to run it.

Essentially it states that by putting the SS treatment on a car it has put a peice of the Corvettes performance heritage in it. A Chevelle SS is a Chevelle with some Corvette in it. You can't have a Corvette SS because it would be a Corvette with some Corvette in it

Why do I have a feeling this is on the edge of becomming a Z28 vs SS debate again.
Please, lets not go there for awhile...

Let's talk reasonably for a second also...
I know a lid is worth 10hp at the wheels.
I know the SLP exhausts are worth anoth 5hp at the wheels easily.
I know a 275/40/17 can outlaunch, out brake and out-corner any of the Z28 tires. I've got a fistful of 1.9-2.0 60' slips to show it.
I know I got the aluminum driveshaft, and that it's lighter than the steel ones many Z28's came with.
I know the Z28 has a softer ride.
I know the SS's NEVER came with the speed limiter that some Z28's did.
I've NEVER seen a stripper Z28 weighed against an SS like mine. 100 lbs? 200 lbs? 300 lbs?
