What 5th gen camaro will = the GTO?
jg, finaly someone sees what the hell im talking about. The GTO will probably get the LS7 in a hi-po model, and why cant that car take on the Cobra? Guy said it, Ponitac doesnt have to follow the Corvette idea, BAM! Here is the answer to all our Cobra problems. The GTO. The Cobra seems to want the 500hp, 4 seat action, and Im sure who ever wants one is gunna pay for one. The price will probably be in the range of a base corvette or more. This sounds about right for a the GTO, maybe cheaper. If the GTO now costs less then a Cobra, then trends would tend would continue? The Cobra will join the high-end market of performance coupes, like the GTO, M3, etc. Have the GTO match up to the Cobra and everyone is happy. The GTO could be faster then the Cobra, then the Z28 will be faster then the "retro" model like the Boss model or whatever the new name will be, the SS and RS will be better then the GT, and the SC will be faster then the base Mustang.

Because, I have a hard time buying the premise that the top GTO will outperform Camaro. SAY IT WITH ME... They will share powertrains. They will share platforms. The GTO may in fact be larger and heavier than Camaro. SAME powertrain......heavier vs lighter car...which do you think will be faster?
So far, the LS7 is slated for the Z06 ($60,000), and the next gen CTSv ($60,000). Does anyone really believe that a $35,000 GTO will get it too. Does anyone think that the people at Caddy and Corvette might have a problem with that? There are other engines coming beyond LS2....and these cars will get them. Both cars will get them....Camaro and GTO.
I'd bet that Pontiac might want to sell more than 18K Zeta GTO's per year. This may come as shock to alot of you.....but has anyone considered that Pontiac may want to market a lower performance version of the GTO, also? Anyone? Maybe one with...oh say....AWD, and maybe 310 hp.
Also, we can probably stop using 4th gen paradigms to describe the 5th gen Camaro.
