whoa whoa whoa... Im new here, so inform me of this "homework" assignment?
And the whole driving to Detroit thing. Id do it, gas or no gas. I dont know how pissy people get when you stop traffic, but Im sure it would at least make a statement. Im sure you would have to get a permit from the city to parade down some of teh streets. Im sure someone could start that up. Or how about instead of all that, how about just do it on all our respective cities? NYC, LA, Detroit, Chi, Miami, Austin, Houston, Dallas, St.L, San Diego, San Fran, Philly, D.C. etc etc...hell even in canada, europe and asia! Showing GM that there are fbody owners of all backgrounds and in all different spots on the globe would show them how many dedicated enthusiats there are? I guess its just s pipe dream, but it would sure make an impression.

Anyway, I dont think whatever coupe that comes out will have the impact that a Camaro name will. The Camaro is a nameplate people know. Go to any mall, food store, resturaunt, or public place as ask "What car company makes the Camaro?" and im sure you will get a 9 out of 10 saying Chevy. Actualy, I think Im gunna do that...

This was just an idea from PacerX from a while ago. Your spin-off would definately benefit Pacer's lawn!

Yeah, it would p!@s some people off, but as long as we didn't start a riot, they'd get over it in a couple of days. As long as we have some supporters in town it would be a good thing. And pissing a few people off is a great way to get media attention, of course it could be negative if every single person in town hates us.

Besides it would show GM that we are p!@@ed off too because they canceled our favorite car.

Why not schedule the F-body Event next year to be in Detroit. That gives the Camaro enthusiast world 14 months to plan. Hype it up, let all the F-body enthusiasts know that the 2005 event will be the most important one in F-body history. BE THERE!!!!

Pick one of the days of the event to encirlce and crowd GM headquarters and make sure everyone has their cut-outs open, borla plates removed (that one is for me ) or whatever. Wash wax, do everything you can to get attention, make racket....just dont hoot and hollar like some drunk red-necks.

Id drive from Louisiana for certain. Not only are we making a statement, but also havign one hell of an event with drag racing, road racing, and autocrossing. Now THAT is a statement!

The Camaro Nameplate is one of the top 5 most recognized nameplates in the industry.

No hard fast decisions have been made.

You MAY recall that I gave everyone a homework assignment a few weeks back...........

As of Monday, I received a grand total of FOUR envelopes with the requested pictures in the mail.

SOOOOOOO..........

Quitcherbitchin and get me pictures!
Well, I have a Trans Am, so...... Really doesn't bother me as much if the Camaro name comes back or not. At least I KNOW that GM doesn't/ won't bring my car back!

Well, that's not a 100% certainty either... even if it looks that way, you never know what will happen in the future.

Just remember what happened when Coke started messing with the proven formula...

I think the only thing GM could possibly do that would be worse than discontinuing the Camaro would be bringing it back and giving it a different name. That'd go over REAL well.

Plus, they'd probably give it some dumb made up name that sounds kinda like some real word, like swiffer. The New Chevy Swiffer Coupe. Floor It.

If the pontiac guys got lucky, there'd be a Sulphire, but it would stink.

I used to like this idea but now I don't think it's the kind of image we need.
Look, I live here, I know the traffic and the roads.

No hooliganism, just get a thousand or so cars to lap the RenCen a few times, then lap the Tech Center a few times.

No lawbreaking. Just that many cars, all obeying the traffic laws, will be plenty to get the message across.

I would suggest burnouts in front of the RenCen though... hell, they have LANES for burnouts on the Dream Cruise.

Well, my 2 cents is that the Camaro as we know will not come back as a Camaro. I've believed this ever since the first rumours of it coming back started to circulate around the internet. So far I think everything has be rumours and innuendos as far as the Camaro is concerned.

If the Camaro was coming back GM would have made some noise about it at this stage of the game. The car is not some super secret government project you know.

Chevy will have a RWD drive performance car, based off of the SS concept, but it will not be named Camaro.

My friend, you are so very wrong on this. There are plenty of good reasons why GM isn't publicizing this.

Well.. I guess time will tell which one of us is right or wrong.

If we don't see any concept "Camaro" at any of the 2005 Auto Shows, then you can bet it will not come back.

GM will not simply call up one day and say, hey!! Camaro is now shipping to your dealership.

Bob Lutz was asked that very same question in an LA interview about the Camaro coming back. His responce :

"Maybe after a 30 year nap"

Like I said there WILL be a RWD performance car from Chevy based on the SS concept. Trust me.

You must not know your insider stuff Guion and I guess all we know is now BS. They could show up anytime they want and say here's the Camaro, but they can't yet for a number of legal reasons. The car is still a few years away also. The Camaro will not be based off of the SS Concept in any way. And BTW, GM often waits to talk about a car that they will be introducing until near release, but this car in particular has to stay a secret to the general public until things are settled, then they can and will talk about it. If you are really observant you'll see that they've been saying and hinting at things for a while now in many different ways.
