Well...This is cryptic...
Re: Well...This is cryptic...
If it's $75K, it's the biggest mistake (besides the ZR-1) that GM ever made. They'll sell 4000 the first year, 1000 the second, 500 after that.
Looks like I'm looking at Vipers again.

Re: Well...This is cryptic...
How is it a mistake? First, that price isnt yet offical as it has not yet to go on sale.
Second, you dont know how well the car will stack up against the Viper or even the GT, yet we are dooming it already?
Third, you guys do know that the Z06 comes fully loaded right? And there are a lot more things that this one has over the last Z06.
Aluminum chassis, carbon fiber body pannels and floors, 7.0 hand built dry sump oil tank, on top of it being fully loaded with heated and cooled leather steats, DVD nav, HUD, Not to mention the new larger cross drilled brakes, with bigger 6 and 4 piston calipers,....the list goes on.
So before we start getting all pissy about the price, IMO, the Viper is still 10k norht of the Z06, and it doesnt offer the things the Z06 does, and looking at thoes numbers, its right next to all the supercars.
Sor for 1/2 or 1/3 of the price of a Supercar, you get a Z06.

You're missing the point.
People paying $75k (If that is the correct MSRP) are going to want something that stands out in a crowd and is unique.
And, when you are talking about spending $45-50k, a Corvette DOES that... but when you step up to $75k, it becomes "just a Corvette" to a lot of people. A lot of these people who have the money to purchase a $75k car won't even look at the Z06 at that price, because it is too similar to a regular Corvette.
Sure, your die-hard Corvette guys will buy them off the bat, but at $75k, it WILL end up with a sales history like the ZR-1.
Re: Well...This is cryptic...
I dont think so.
People dont say "Its just a Dodge" when they look at a 85k Viper sitting next to a 13k neon with incentives. I think Team Vette went with the high-options because of the price of the vehicle. People dont want a stripped down race car at 65k. They want some stuff with it, and I think that the Z06 will do much better then everyone thinks it will.

Again, you are missing the point.
It's not the same thing to thing someone would say a Viper is "just a Dodge"... if that were the case, people would think Corvettes are "just Chevy's"...
The point is... most people dropping $75k are going ot want something that you don't see every day... and you can see a Corvette just about any day of the week... a Viper? not so much.
Re: Well...This is cryptic...
I agree with the majority here. The local Dodge dealership always had Vipers in stock, and on random days, they'll park them out front with a $77.9K price-tag on 'em. If the 'Vette is $75K, I wouldn't even consider it while shopping in that price range. $65K is max, in my opinion.

Re: Well...This is cryptic...
$75,000 would be a bitter pill.
I could see the "Ultra-Vette"/Blue Devil going at that price point, but everybody, including the GT and whatever Ferrari and Porsche have on the road going for under $300,000 needs to get cleanly blown off the road at those kind of dollars, much like the ZR-1 did in it's time.
Mid $60,000 range would be acceptable for a Z06. A seven in the first digit is just too much to stay in tune with what high-performance Corvettes have always been - a Ferrari for a fraction of the price.
