Welburn's 3 fav designs of all time: '63 Vette, Lambo and next fullsized Cadillac.
I remember when the 5th gen Concept was revealed in 2006. Beforehand, GM had a parade of old Camaros driving past the stage - some pretty neat ones. When I saw Welburn's yellow '69 Camaro, I thought, "ummm....that's it?"

I mean here was a senior GM designer and his car had no stance, no attitude, a very poor wheel/tire combo. It looked like something I'd see im my high school parking lot circa 1978.
I hope I'm wrong, but I can usually size up someone's autophilia pretty well by how their car looks.

How much influence does Welburn have on overall design? Doesn't Sangyup Lee get credit for the Camaro and Tom Peters for the C6? I know he gets final say in overall design language, but I think the overall theme of a vehicle comes from the guy that did the initial sketch that was chosen.

Really strange to see any criticism of Welburn here. Under his tenure, GM's designs have gone from some of the worst in the industry to some of the best. Maybe some of you have Aztek on the brain
I know he's not penning the cars himself, but neither was Harley Earl.

I'm 30 and grew up in the '80s. Like others, I had the Countach posters and to me it was the ultimate car, especially the late '80s editions (I think '89 was last year) with the outrageous vents and wing.

Heck, in 1989 I was fresh out of college and I think my favorite car at the time was the Porsche 959.
Too each his own I guess, however this big Caddy had better be the best looking production Cadillac ever for Welburn to give it such praise. I'm not holding my breath.
