Are we on the verge of things starting to look up for GM?

Camaro has always had choices, v6, multiple v8's (most of the time). If you couldnt afford the v8 sticker or INSURANCE then there was the v6 model you could jump into. A PERFECT car for low 20 year olds that want something sporty but cant afford the raping the insurance companies give them on v8's (im a perfect example of this).
On the other hand....
I'm sure there are people who aspire to owning Camaros that have alot of speeding violations on their license. (Oh, and ONE counts as ALOT when it comes to insurance.) If you also live in an urban "war zone," cover huge annual mileages in a metropolitan area and park your car on the street, you have every reason to expect big insurance premiums no matter what car you drive.
Still, there are companies....
Yes, there are still insurance companies that won't cover a F-body, or any "high performance car" for that matter - they'll "non-renew" you in a heartbeat if you add anything fairly hot to your policy. I can even think of a company that wouldn't even cover a '94-96 Impala SS.
Before I bought my Z28, I called my long time agent who gave me the thumbs up. I got the premium quote before I placed my order. Considering how selective my company is, I'll bet that the answer could have been different for the average 21 year old walking in off the street. Sadly, in this society being "average" and "21" means having a "few" points on the license and a "couple" of previous insurance claims.

I hate big gov. but if there is one industry that needs to have big brother step in its the auto insurance industry. They make the cell phone companys seem honest.

However, the downside is pretty scary.
Accident fatalities went way up. It turns out that cheap public insurance put way more young and high risk drivers on the highway. Could it be that creepy insurance companies make society safer when high premiums keep some of the most dangerous drivers off the road?

That is some interesting stuff... glad to hear something useful from you!!

Kind of goes along with a story I found interesting that follows a similar theme:
Local law enforcement reported a "sharp" decline in crime when gas prices rise significantly... they attribute this to the potential criminals not being able to afford the gas and travel to do the crime...
The funny part is, why wouldnt these potential criminals just steal the gas too?

Either way, I suppose there is a silver lining in higher prices sometimes if you choose to look for them.

I don't think anyone on here finds you a hero...if that wasn't a cocky, completely asinine thing to say to someone, I guess I don't know what is.
