Inline sixes are great for torque and should be used in pickups and 4WDs. A base Camaro should have a six, however a V6 would be far more appropriate and would be a lot easier to fit in the engine bay of a properly sized 5th gen Camaro and would provide better weight distribution. (It's a RWD, remember.)

An inline six in a modern RWD 2+2 coupe just doesn't make any sense what so ever.

I think that offering a stripper version of the s/c'd or turbo'd cobalt might be a good idea. Maybe not call it a "SS" and give it something else. Z24 would bring back to many bad memories from the cavi, but something like that. It can't be cost prohibitive to take things from an existing car and selling it for less.

I think that some people are underestimating the desire that the young buyers have for cheap perfomance. I think that the stripped camaro and stripped mustangs were targeting a totally different group of people than what a $17k cobalt would.

Here's you another hint: do something to convince your dealers that marking up Colbalt LSs by $5,999 isn't going to help your corporate reputation with John Q. Public.

Instead of a stripped S/C Cobalt SS....I'd rather keep the Cobalt line up as is....and put the Cobalt's S/C'd Ecotec powertrain in the Aveo, for really cheap.

Then instead of Aveo SS, they could call it Nova.

The only inline six I would want would be the 2JZGTE, although it would be somewhat blasphemous to put it in a Camaro.

Yep, thats how i managed to get my 02 Z28, with only 24k on the clock for 15k =)

Sure it has no power windows or locks, but i dont care. and if i get really desperate for them, ill piece everything together and do it myself.

I think I'd actually rather have one of these than the roadster!

I looked so hard for a stripped LS1 car around when I went hunting but couldn't find one so I bought my car. About two months later there was a 2000 Z28 with 15k miles for 12,000, and this was back in 2002. It would have been a stretch but I could have picked it up. Damn the luck. Good find though man.
