WOW!

Well, Chrysler has to do what they have to do. The company is in the financial gutter right now.

Aside from Chryslers finacial situation Id say you couldnt give me a better reason for them to put it on hiatus. What good is a halo car if the cheaper cars its supposed to be advertising are crap? When it gets to that point the Viper becomes what Chrysler could do if they tried rather than a beacon of what they are.

Its a shame. I was really impressed when Shelby brought this thing out. I hope they bring it back later. I just hope Nardelli doesnt kill the Challenger. I have a feeling hes going to go after volume and profit, and I hope someone grabs him before too long and enlightens him as to what a flagship is for... Advertising, building the brand, building reputation, gaining enthusiasts.

It seems like the Challenger is getting so much press attention that it's doing a better job in the "Halo" role than the Viper is.

Unless you want a 600HP CONVERTIBLE from the factory.

Face it, losing the Viper will weaken the Corvette. The rivalry is definitely one of the factors that brought on the Z06 and ZR1.

To which the most reasonable reply is:

Why would anybody want a 600hp convertible in the first place?

And apparently, the market answered that question for us.

Weaken the Corvette?

I think not.

Besides, there will always be some other victim wating in line to be next.

Lamborghini doesn't seem to have any problem selling theirs.

I somehow doubt another vehicle will step in to fill the Viper's shoes. It wasn't a rivalry with Porsche that pushed the Corvette to 620hp.

I still give the Viper a lot of credit for making the Corvette what it is today. Getting development money from the suits is a lot easier with a crosstown rival kicking your ***.

the viper looks like its another victim of CAFE. you cant make a 35 mpg v10 but you can with a v8. and thats the vipers heart the v10. i guess chrysler is cleaning up shop. chrysler is going to have a very rough couples years ahead however, their making the right decisions to be successful again. but it is sad to see an american icon die off.

I doubt CAFE played much of a role in the Viper's death. It is sold in way too little of a volume.

Oh-boy, just what the world needs, another car equipped with every driving aid known to man so they can rule the street like they rule GT4.

I don't believe the Viper is dead. I do believe that the current model will live on longer than expected. But until we see more evidense, I won't believe this.
