Unfortunately, I think part of this "fad" is side crash standards, so I don't expect it to go away anytime soon. You're right, though.

Performance wise

I wouldnt automatically rate the new Challenger SRT8 behind the new V8 Camaro without knowing for sure what engine GM will be placing in the base V8 Camaro. Most everyone hopes it will be 400-430hp, but if the 360hp G8 engine goes in it, drivers will have to get over seeing SRT8 Challengers tail lights when street racing. After all, you need to understand its a $30k car vs a $40k car.

Apparently. It also seems to have developed the "Bubba Gump-lipped" underbite on the front bumper that Mustang also suffers from.

I'm sure there will be a couple different V8's available in the Camaro (although most likely not all at first). My guess is that 425hp SRT8 Challenger and a 360hp Camaro would be a close race, with the edge going to the Challenger if the race is long enough (Camaro wins the 1/8, Challenger wins the 1/4). A 400+hp Camaro should smoke the Challenger. Since GM isn't making the LS2 anymore (which is what was in the Concept), it's reasonable to assume that Camaro will be available with the LS3, which has replaced the LS2.

I actually kinda like it... the wheels are way better than those on the concept.
They did a pretty good job with the SRT package: wheels, brakes, duck-tail spoiler, and black paint.
Its a nice car, but not my style.
I def. agree with most people here, Camaro is a home run.

Anyway, don't forget that this a fullsized, 5 passenger coupe.
Its quite comfy in the back...I sat in one in Vegas. Plenty of head and legroom...this really is a modern day MC SS/GTO kind of car to me...not a pony car by any stretch.

Personally, as a DD, I'd kill for one. I sense that it'll be a very comfortable GT car. As a corner killer however, I think it'll leave a lot to be desired. And for my toys, I really like corner killers I will say however that after driving an SRT8 Charger, its amazing how the SRT engineers can make a car that big handle that well...

Challenger SRT8 vs V8 Camaro

Will the new Camaro suffer from wheel hop on hard launches like the GTO and early CTS-V? Hopefully, GM will address this problem before production begins and minimalize it. A 425hp LS3 in a new Camaro at around $30,000 would be a he11 of a bargain. Finding a dealer without an additional market adjustment will not be easy.

Its from the doors back where it could improve. The deck lid goes way too much higher than the front and it could have lost an inch in length in the trunk

I love it. I wasn't expecting a light corner carver so I'm not worried about the weight or size. I just think Chrysler did a great job of keeping close to the concept and getting it done quickly. (Shared LX underpining did help)

And I loved the Challenger/'Cuda style they copied for this car.

How does the interior look, in comparison to the concept?

Looking forward to seeing one in Plum Crazy. Silver does nothing for that car.

Sucks that they couldn't keep the "light bar" taillights from the concept.

Hasn't been seen yet, but word is that Jim Press ordered a whole bunch of improvements to it shortly after he joined Chrysler, so I expect it to be pretty good.
