Under our noses?
Under our noses?
Anyone take a look at the www.camaroz28.com homepage lately?
There's been a poll there for a very long time...
I could really be reading into this (maybe Chris or Jason can chime in here... but if I am right, I doubt they could say anything anyway) but...
What do you suppose the likelihood is that someone at GM asked to have this poll posted?
Here are the current results as of the time of posting this thread:
Do you drive your f-body in the rain or snow?
No 977 25.98 %
Yes 1490 39.62 %
Sometimes 387 10.29 %
Only if I have to 907 24.12 %
TOTAL 3761 100.00 %
That sounds like a question that could be very interesting and valuable to a future Camaro...
...Thoughts?

Hmmm-- first time I drove a Camaro was in freezing rain, so perhaps I've had a soft touch from the get-go. Do you think they're using this info to determine whether to include traction/stability control (...AWD?)? Personally I just thought ABS would've been nice at the time, but that's about it.
The first time I drove my Camaro was in 'terrential' rains. I couldn't see the road in front of me it was so bad, I had to look off to the side of the road at the markings just to make sure I was on it. I've driven in snow once, it wasn't too bad...
First time I drove mine was off the lot, brand new. Of course I dropped the T-Tops off since it was a sunny day. Little did I know there was a freak Texas storm brewing that would drench me 10 miles down the road.

Ya, that's exactly what I am thinking... especially newer tech like Stability Control.
It's interesting that this poll kind of came out of nowhere, and it's been up so long...
Eh, like I said, I might be reaching here, but it has raised my eyebrow for some time now, and I just wanted to get some opinions...
Assuming the prospect of someone from GM asking a informal poll be taken on this question, ask why, and put yourself in their position.
I would say that someone want's to know if traction control should be standard or optional in the next Camaro.
Like I said in another thread, drop GM (Chevrolet in particular) a line & tell them what you want in the next Camaro. By the time a new Camaro is announced will probally be too late (takes alot time to test & certify even simple switches, let alone whole systems).

I have only driven my Z in the snow once. That was home from the body shop after it got repainted. I drove my RS in the winter and I never had a problem with it at all. Of course when it snowed I couldn't drive it, but I had my pickup for that.
I think if GM started watching these boards, they would get alot of good opinions, and they might jsut figure out that they need to keep the F-bodys around. instead of killing them off. I am with DARTH XED, I think they might have placed this poll here, but you would think they would be looking for alittle different info on that sort of thing.

I don't buy that for a moment.
The people that frequent this message board like the ones that attend the car events are not the folks that will make the Camaro a 100,000 unit a year car. To us, these cars are "toys" or "babies" to the other 97,000 stylish transportation with "get up and go".

How would the little guy like me contact GM about something like this and actually have them listen. Wouldn’t they be kind of suspicious too if I'm telling them what I'd want on a car that is secret and technically doesn’t exist?

Of course, if only one person gives an opinion versus a few dozen, the results will be different. That's why quite a few of us need to voice our opinion. If enough people make the same point, or voice the same opinion, then something will get done.
I may rip on the GTO folks a bit, but as a group they were effective in getting scoops back on the next GTO (something I personally could have lived without... I love sleeper cars
).
