Question

I guess I see it differently.......the SSR is meant for the GM truck division (you know, the one making ALL the $$ for GM) to have something to celebrate their heritage.

It is aimed squarely at the older truck buying crowd......and not many of them give a darn about blistering quarter mile times....this truck will be an ample performer, make the right noises and look like a blast from the past......they'll sell every one of them.

Now the Silverado SS is another story....it obviously was aimed at the Lightning crowd and missed the target........although I'd like to see a'real world' driving comparo before telling GM it doesn't measure up....(although I'd guess they do have some making up to do).

We f-body guys seem to be stuck on 1/4 mile heros and miss the point of some of the concepts.

Yup. I would have to agree with all of that especially the last point.

I agree 100% Doug.

BTW, how did anyone come up with the idea of comparing the flagship of Chevrolet Trucks with f-bodies & T-birds anyway???

Alright beyond the point of it all...

THe name is SSR
name synonomous with performance.

But ok, there are plenty off SS's out there are not much.

Even if it was for the truck crowd, it does not meet what a truck person wants in my opinoin, its a definet dtreet truck which is no problem most trucks do not go off road, but it has not storage capacity, I personaly feel it will not sell, I think it will be Aztekish...

I am sorry for a car of $40k, I am sure most hte population wants something that can move or handle, or at least be known as classy. Sorry as much as I love GM, other then the caddilac, the crowd that wants to be considered high class is not going to think this is a high class vehicle.

Hey guys,

I just signed up today after recently finding this place. (Nice website btw.)

In any case, I see the SSR as GM's answer to the prowler-type buyer who is also a Chevy loyalist. I love the original concept. However, I'm not quite feeling the final product. While I'm an F-body diehard going back to when I first rode in a '68 RS/SS 396 at 13, I also once had a '51 3100 p-up, of which the SSR stole many styling cues. (I guess Detroit is in an old-school mode.)

On the Holden Monaro/Pontiac GTO/Chevy ??? '03 US concept, I have one comment... DON'T CALL IT 'CAMARO'. I've seen several messageboards where people are saying that Chevy might release the Monaro as the 5th gen Camaro if GTO sales look good. I hope not! Let's not forget while the Monaro & GTO have shared platforms going back to the '60's the most obvious namesake for a Chevrolet version could only be "CHEVELLE."

Speaking about "Retro-GM", I happen to be thinking about an '03 pick-up when I stumbled across the Silverado SS on Chevy's website. Nice idea, but will it have the guts to back the name? Also, does it have to be the extended cab? Gosh I hope that Chevy seriously considers the std. cab concept.

Finally on the Bel-Air concept... no thanks.

Anyway, its nice to find a place with so many car freaks!

P.S. Anyone have a 1stGen Camaro for sale... cheap?
