UAW Members busted at lunch slamming beers, smoking weed
Getting hammered and going to work is not a grey area. Particularly when working around machinery that can maim or kill, but, without regard to the profession, it isn't a first class way to consider your job and what others could conclude about the level of professionalism your company expects.
There's a time and place for fun and relaxation. There's a time a place for getting a buzz on if you desire.
Work isn't one of those times or places.
A good reputation takes a lifetime to cultivate and but a momentary lapse of judgement to lose.

On the flip side, I doubt there is anyone on this site who has never had a beer or a cocktail ever during their lunch. I'm also pretty sure that we all know someone at work who is known to smoke weed, and likely does so on break if not while off the clock.
For the record, I did work with union members when I was in the military, and my dad was also union.... anyone saying that as a rule ALL unions and union members are lazy can go scr*w themselves.
I never had a drop of alcohol/smoked a cigarette/had any illegal drugs in my life-and I'm almost 40. I guess I'm an oddball.

No matter how you justify it, what's wrong is wrong. They may have been "off the clock," but they're on my dollar.
If everything was on the up and up, why did they cower, hide and run when the camera's showed up?Sadly, they'll most likely file a grievance, and get their jobs back.
Oh, and I'd like to know how often the UAW has random drug tests done.
I could go on, but what I want to say has already been said. Post #58 by Jason, sums it up.
