One of the complaints about the current Solstice is that the ratios on the 5-speed are too far apart and you often fall into 'holes' where one gear is too low and the next is too high. Even though a well-tuned turbo could possibly fill that gap with extra torque, a large gap between gears does not impart a fun or sporty feel to a car.

I would be surprised if a properly driven 6-speed is slower across the board than the 5-speed. Maybe he meant it's slower to certain milestones like 60mph because it could cause an extra shift vs. the 5-speed.

I would rather see the 6 speed than a 5 speed.
