So why not offer a $500 rebate and lower the MSRP another $1,500?

Now THAT would be something special. Keep the $$ on the hood for the buyer expecting something, but draw more in with a lower MSRP. And, then your resale doesn't look as awful.

But to have $2,000 on the hood of something barely out, to me, is a joke

I see your point... no doubt.

I just like getting the cars cheaper... one way or the other.

Even though I've officially removed myself from the new car market in pursuit of a 3rd gen and saving for a 5th (don't ask me where I'm going to put all these damn things...my current house only has a 1 car garage, although we might be buying a house together next spring...2 car garage with lots of land for a second, free-standing garage is a minimum ), I'm all for cars being cheaper.

And to think of how fast I jumped on my '02 Grand Am GT 3 years ago when the rebate jumped from $2,500 to $3,000 I thought "wow, they can't be doing this forever!!!!"

Little did I know

Hmm. If a Trailblazer SS with an LS2 is $33,600, I wonder how much the Camaro will be with an LS2.

Up here, the Trailblazer has always been around the price of a 4th gen Camaro.

Either way, I will be getting a Trailblazer as soon as they become available up here.

When we built our house, I was insistant on at least a 3-car agarge... I even stretched it 4 foot one way and 6 foot another from the base plan, and added the oversized garage doors (18' and 9' vs 16' and 8' widths)... now I wish I had gone even bigger. I have been tryign to figure out how I can put up a barn or something in the back and work around the septic system that is annoyingly placed where the driveway would continue forward.

Hey, I did the exact same thing when I jumpe don my 02 Monte Carlo SS when they upped the rebate to $2500... in fact, I think I emailed you for your salesman's opinion at the time!!

Gorgeous, and at a sexy price.

I also heard 5.7 0-60. Not to shabby for a SUV

TB SS looks awesome and with some great pricing. But I checked out the SRT jeep, wow! I like the look better, supposed 0-60 in under 5 secs 20 inch wheels like the SS, and 415 horses. I wonder how much this one will go for? I can only imagine a good bit more than the SS. I wonder how much it weighs? Its running on par with the Charger SRT as far as speed from the looks of it!

I don't know guys. Am I being a cheapskate here? I mean, what we have here is a pretty cheap midsized truck, with 20" wheels and LS2, ( I know some other stuff too).

To me $28,000-$29,000 seems more appropriate for a vehicle of this content level. Am I wrong?

why is it a cheap truck? Cause leather isn't in there? Or are you thinking something else?

I love Chevys new SS lineup. Makes the leather, sunroof ect optional to keep the price down for those who don't want that stuff.

Vehicles like the Trailblazer SS and Grand Cherokee SS are still very clumsy, poorly packaged, midsized SUVs. They aren't capable offroad or on the street.

If you combine a monster drivetrain with a really horrible SUV, you still have a really horrible SUV!
The Typhoons and Syclones wern't capable off road and I don't think I have ever heard anyone say they were really horrible trucks or suv's.

$33k is the price of an LS1 powered Camaro SS with some decent option back in 2002.

Add to that that the base Camaro was cheaper than the base TrailBlazer, and I don't see the problem, really...

No problem really. I'm just saying that this is essentially Chevy's 5 passenger RWD muscle"car". So, if I'm cross shopping, I'd probably notice that I could buy a pretty loaded Charger R/T, with leather, sunroof, upgraded sound, a couple of convenience packages, IRS and the all important Road/Track pkg.....for over $1,000 less.

TB SS gets an extra 40 hp over the R/T's 350 hp....but also carries an extra quarter ton of heft.

Don't get me wrong...I'm looking forward to seeing how the TB performs.I'm just saying I'd be hardpressed to give it first crack at my $33,600.

The fundimental problem is that the TrailBlazer is barely competitive as a conventional SUV design.

On the other hand, the SLP-optioned Camaro SS was a very competive product - within its market niche.

How soon we all forget that the Z28 and SS sold well long after the base Camaro V6 became a sales dog.

I dont think you could reach out much farther into nowhere Z.

If average Joe/Jane is cross shopping a TB SS, they are almost automatically going to compare it with other performance midsize SUV's... i would think.

Charger is a car
TB is a truck
Charger sits down
TB sits up
Charger looks like a car
TB looks like a SUV
Charger might hold 5 people, but not their luggage
TB will (even without the rack)

C'mon now, lets not go back to cross-shopping the Cobalts and Mustangs. "You-know-who" is already in this thread ya know?! lol

I don't think I'm reaching at all. I'm simply comparing two V8, 5 passenger, RWD, performance 4 doors...in roughly the same price range. To me anyways...the comparo seems obvious.

And regarding trunk space, I betcha the Charger's trunk can hold more bodies than the cargo space behind the TB's backseat.

A car nut could put that together.

But again, I dont think the average consumer is a gear head. If they were, we wouldn't have had a gap between the 4th and 5th gen Camaro's.

TB SS is in a good spot.
