They can no longer fudge the numbers...Toyota passes GM
"They know how to make the best cars in the world. They'll never fall."
Too much crap at the base of the rosebush made beatutiful flowers that still smelled like sh1+.
Remember this... Every great power in the history of the earth has risen... AND fallen. Toyota will be no different. he question is - when.
It will be no different...
Both the public and the media hate GM because they are an AMERICAN company with history, not because they are the number one automaker.
Toyota will continue to be pushed (literally) by it's free publicity firm (the media) and GM will continue to go through "forced downsizing" The media will continue to spread lies and if that is not enough, the government (with CAFE) just provided all of the insurance of death that Detroit needs.

I've been preaching that for the last 5 years.
Our nation is ALREADY not the economic superpower that it used to be.
We have lost that crown to China.
We are no longer the manufacturing superpower.
We have lost that to China.
We are barely holding onto the technological leadership, but I expect that to be gone in the next 18-24 months if it's not already.
There is NO PRIDE, NO GLORY, and NO WEALTH in being a nation of "service-providers". Someone else is making all the wealth by producing the goods that we "service". And there's not even much service in a nation where everything is "disposable". When your TV craps out, you don't call a TV repairman anymore, you go buy the newer model with more bells and whistles. We throw away push mowers when the blades are dull or it starts rusting. Fridges. Washers. Dryers. Hand drills. You name it - we are the most "Throw-It-Out" nation on the planet, yet we are becoming a service-based economy...
It's OK though. We can all go to Wally-World and buy that new replacement push mower or hand drill for a GREAT price! Save us 3 dollars on a $50-purchase, and feel good about ourselves on the way home with that piece of crap made in China that is going to break soon so we can do it again!
Great plan until we all finally go below poverty level and can't even afford that cheap Wally-World mower or drill... but I guess even that won't be a problem because without the job, we will lose our house and won't have a yard to mow or projects to use a drill on... so all's still good!
Man, don't get me started. It's Friday and I need a good day to lead into my weekend.
