Take a hard look gents, cause right there...
It's really amazing how some things change & how fast they change.
I believe it was barely a month ago that some of you bemoaned the possibility of the next Camaro being based on the Solstice feeling that the chassis was so weak that it could barely support itself, let alone a V8, then get in & drive V8 f-bodies that almost flex in half when you put them on a garage lift!
Bringing back an arguement from the dead (since PacerX, myself, and about 2 others here who brought this up & were pounced on by some of you
), a chassis that is being engineered can be made for any potential contingency. The Solstice chassis (or Bengal, if some of you still feel screamish with that idea) can easily be engineered to accept high performance engines, and I'm certain that is exactly what is happening.
I believe PacerX (responsible party, forgive me if I name the wrong person) pointed this out awhile back that the RWD components being sorced out for the Solstice cars are top drawer stuff, and anything that can hold both a inline 4 and a V6, can also hold a V8.
I think it's pretty significant that it seems f-body plans seems to have come back to the front burner as soon as this "tubular" chassis (love that name
) goes into final development. Not saying it's Camaro, but it's still interesting nonetheless.

The photoshop guys can make it look like a Camaro.
The important stuff is what is underneath, and all the right pieces are there. They last straw will be getting a V8 into a Bengal - and then the puzzle just falls together.

Photochop nothing. Camaro should (and will) be a clean sheet design on this chassis. Plain and simple. Now if you guys want to let the tight and nimble look (G35 coupe) going on your drawings, I'd love it.
I am really interested in the mechanical bits here. I get the impression that there are those who could care less on what Camaro is built on....as long as it can be fitted with a V8. I've been waiting a long time for Camaro to get a world class chassis...and if this will provide it....GREAT! If not, it shouldn't be considered.
As far as that Opel concept goes....it's nice enough....but I wouldn't want to see any body panels or lines transferred to a new Camaro.

Just remember that some Hot Rodders/ Custom Car builders out there build tubular chassis for their custom cars and they put V8's into those.
By the way, since the issue of how to build multiple cars on one chassis has been discussed as a way to make a legit business case to bring back our Camaro, here is one way it could be done. And it woudn't be on the same platform as the GTO. This tubular chassis could be the answer to our prayers!

I don't know if the planet alignment is out of whack or what, but I agree with IZ28.

I agree with what the other guys have been saying. IF the chassis is good/perfect for making a great Camaro and there isn't really any other choice, incredible.
But, do not let it have ANY other similarities beyond that. We have spoken.
