Pretty soon the car will replace all professions. It will cook, clean, heal you, and feed you all while getting 38 miles to the gallon.

On a serious note, it seems to be pretty stupid at first thought. Like above, do you drive naked or what? The diabetic thing seemed pretty good. I don't know what the deal is with the whole color changing headlights though.

Guy 1 : Hey , wanna ride in my Camry

Guy2: Sure

Guy1: Hope you not allergic to my medicated cloth seats , ha ha ha .

Thats just a little on the wierd side . That would be a definate detraction for me .

-If my headlights are gonna be a different color because I had a bad day at work , you couldnt even give me that car for free

-Most new GM head units are ipod ready already .

I would say bravo to the technology , but Im not . Cars I dont think have any business having all the luxuries of the living room . It all adds up to further distractions from , oh yeah ...DRIVING!!!!

Re: Suffering from a rash? Drive a Toyota.

If it's just a temp chemical then that's retarded. If it's some uber-cool cloth that helps skin constantly then that's ok but still weird.

I can say that when I wear shorts (so my skin touches) certain cloth seats, I get a rash on the bottom of my legs when I sweat. Not that I've ever expected a car to alleviate that for me, but I do prefer cars that don't GIVE me a rash with their cloth seats. I'm sure it's just some weird alergy I have.

Unless this cost Toyota like 50 dollars in R&D it was a waste of money IMO.

“It would give other drivers on the road a signal on which cars they must stay away from,” Press said. “It will be a few more years before consumers see this technology in the market,” he added.
I want to see them get this past ACLU.... WTF kind of ****e is this? Toyota better leave this BS technology in Japan. I for one don't want my car to be putting out a "digital stink" because it thinks I'm a little "off" today.

The whole article sounds like an April Fools joke.

I agree. There are many things that an automobile, which is designed to transport people, should not have. That whole article is full of things that would distract your average driver from what they're supposed to be doing............driving!

Instead of changing headlight color, it should self destruct if a moron and / or drunk person gets behind the wheel.

Re: Suffering from a rash? Drive a Toyota.

heh.. that reminds me of this funny cop episode I saw.. They found this drunk, passed out guy, sleeping in a car.. They woke him out and told him to get out.. checked his ID, made sure it was his car, etc.. there were empty beer cans in the car, and it was obvious that the guy was drinking the night before and simply passed out.. Funny thing is, there was really nothing the cops could do, cause technically he didn't drive drunk.. He didn't even have his keys on him.. lol

The more I think about it the more this seems like a joke. I just searched news.google.com and this MSNBC article is the only one on the web to mention anything even close to this story. Also did a quick search in google and all the results I scanned were either unrelated, or pointing to this exact article.

Re: Suffering from a rash? Drive a Toyota.

Taking that a step further, the wheel, in conjunction with other technology, will also be able to gauge a driver’s temperament and blood pressure, adjusting the color of the headlights on the car to warn others of the driver’s mental state.
ROFLMAO. "I can't tell if that's a cop trying to pull me over, or just some really pissed off guy behind me!"
