Stupid Question... why 300C instead of 300N?
The logical guess is that DCX wanted to evoke the time when the 300 was at the top of it's popularity...Sure they could follow the alphabet if they wanted to, but there will be some crappy names waiting (300U anyone?). "300C" is very catchy and sounds better...I seem to remember a little side-story on some news show about 12-13 years ago about how the automakers conduct surveys and research about which letter/number combos sound the best, and create a high-tech and sporty image among consumers...There's a reason why you see letters like Z, S, GT, in so many car names, along with 3-number or 3-digit names...
I think maybe because "300C" just sounds better than "300N", and maybe they don't want to lead anyone into believing that this is simply an mild make-over of the 300M (although that car has been rather successful).
Personally, I think they're making a mistake. Why put all that effort into incorporating the historical styling cues, and then blowing it by not following the proper revision-letter sequence? I don't think it'll make or break the success of this car, but I do wish that auto companies would pay attention to the little fussy details that us enthusiasts like to bicker about.
