Same here, don't like it.

This is still my favorite...

Only thing I'd change right away is to soften up creases extending from the wheel wells a bit, and clean up the side mirrors. It looks to crowded and busy in that area right now w/ the proximity to the fender creases. I'd lose the flare in the front fender that sweeps up into the mirror, then move the mirror up the a pilar a bit to put it at a more useful height. That, and maybe downplay the rear spoiler a bit. Oh, and switch the hood to a cowl induction, and maybe add some brightwork trim to the grille surround, just to see what it'd look like. And integrate the fogs a little better. But other than that......

I'd bet that if Kris were to render Sharpshooter's version like he did Crispey's, several of you would change your tune.

would be nice to see the RS version along side it at the dealer ship but GM would never do it.

That's because they are the same basic design. You need to understand their evolution.

Kris's orange and green Camaros came first based on his idea of a modern retro themed 5th gen.

Crispey's design was based on clues from evok and others that have seen a Chevy Coupe prototype under development. (Pre-Zeta.)

I revised a version of Crispey's design based upon posts that mentioned possible tweaks to match the prototype.

Sharpshooter's (red helix) came next which tried to take all these ideas plus what was rumored to be a 2-door SS concept that was shown at design study for public comments.

With the exception of Kris's original two concepts, all of the others have been attempting to sketch what others have seen, and refine them as needed.

Excellent point.

Hmm......if you look at the 04 and 05 mustang's they are basically the same idea just a few tweaks here and there. A lot of people who would never have bought an 04 bought or want to buy an 05. Those tweaks can make all the diffrence in the world.

Re: Is this still the closes illustration of what the next Camaro might look like?

The two designs are similar because they were thrown together using the exact same design hints and maybes that were dropped by an "insider" at C&G. As I recall, Crispey got his online first, so that honour goes to him. I got mine posted soon afterwards without actually seeing his until I had mine up. So, the similarities are not accidental and FYI, the SS hoodscoop was one of the "hints". Where I differed from Crispey is that I based mine on the SS concept; given that Danno02SS had been to a styling clinic that featured a coupe version of that car.

KrisH's car was done well before I believe and in no way related to the hints; and for the record, (while excellent as far as 3D imaging goes) is much too blatently retro for my personal tastes and I for one, hope GM does not produce a vehicle along those lines - they already did in 1969. His 3D work on Crispey's drawing is top notch as well - but those side mirrors are mounted way too low to be useful.

The 04 and 05 Mustangs have about as much in common as say the 92 and 93 Camaros.

What we are talking about here is similar to what the 97 and 98 Camaros have in common.

All of this really just goes to show that as a group there is a wide interpretation of what a Camaro "is" and should be. There is danger here for GM, how do you decide what elements say Camaro most loudly as a visual statement when the enthusiasts can't even agree? Ultimately when a new Camaro does eventually ship, retro or not..... somewhere, someplace a Camaro enthusiast will not be happy with the car.

Which is why I prefer your design as well.

Re: Is this still the closes illustration of what the next Camaro might look like?

There was a Camaro design competition at C&G last year-ish not hamstrung by "hints" dropped by anyone and Crispey did up a Camaro that was obviously CTS inspired - of all the designs I've seen - this one is probably my fave. Sorry, I don't have a link.
