The old school Mopar muscle was pretty heavy too, at least if it had a hemi or 440 in it.

What's the Mustang going to have for 2009/2010?

LC is the short-wheelbase LX (or LY, which is the next-gen LX. Yes, all the Mopar guys hope it's lighter-weight, too.)

550 is the number being suggested by other Mopar insiders for horsepower on the new Hemi. One of the design goals for the SRT Challenger is to significantly outperform the GT500.

Firepower is dead. We don't know anything more about what the Hemi ZC will be. My guess is in that Allpar thread, but it's just a guess.

I would also be driving an SRT-8 if they weren't all butt-ugly and if they came with a manual transmission, but I digress.

Not until the redesign the earliest...2010/2011

Current 500hp rating, or future possiblity.
It's known that the GT500 has a bunch of electronic dial horsepower on tap.

Could the C in LC not just stand for Coupe?

Cool. Can you show me your source? Can you also tell me how much power those motors will make?

Thanks.

Talk about upping the ante, I'm curious what the price of the cars will be that get this motor.

Eh maybe...I don't think they normally work that way though. What's WK mean? LX?

I believe the first letter is the 'family'...second letter is more the generation

LX is going to LY
LC may go to LD in the future or something.

Not saying it won't be a coupe or anything, but I don't think the "C" would designate that.

WK is the Jeep Grand Cherokee platform.

LC designates the short-wheelbase LX variant. Whether "C" stands for coupe or something else, I don't know. There is supposedly a second coupe (for Chrysler) being developed on Challenger's architecture, fyi.

Talking to some of the SRT engineers at the SRT experience, most hinted the 6.1 would come in the RT flavor, and the 6.4 would be in the SRT. The 392/6.4 can make as much as 550 depending upon what cam, accesories SRT can get past the bean counters and put into production. The transmission of choice will be the new Viper based T56 6060, and the production weight goal was below 4000 lbs for the Challenger.

That's all good stuff. But I think it's going to be pretty tough to get 550 normally aspirated horsepower out of 6.4 liters - especially since emissions are going to be tightening up again soon.

Agreed. Trying to get that much power while keeping emissions compliant and keeping driveability to a max would be quite tough.
