Spotted an '06 Impala Today

It was the LT model in bright blue. All I have to say is WOW!! I saw the SS at the New York show this year, but seeing it parked in daylight is something else entirely. Chrome right where it should be. Conservative yet Athletic and just a little aggressive. A VERY good balance. It gave me thoughts of an SS purchase if I needed a family car. The interior looked exceptional as well, though I couldn't gawk too much.

I'd love to drive one...but just based on the looks....Way to go GM!! An Impala to be proud of.

Yet another post praising the way the car looks in the flesh.

I agree, it has a refined, almost expensive presence in person that does not show up well in photos. Even the character lines that showed up over the fenders of the previous Impala are still there, they are just more subtle and more tightly integrated into the stampings. Glad you like it.

Re: Spotted an '06 Impala Today

I just saw my first Impala today. it was a Charcoalish grey and was an Impala LTZ. It had dual exhaust, and the car does look much better in person than pictures. The front end styling still looks pretty bad to me though.. Like a mid 1990's Lumina. But overall the car is much better than I expected styling wise. I would wish they go a little less conservative with it and change the front end. Never seen the interior though. Is the LTZ a v-6 model??

Yes. The LTZ has the 3.9L standard (I believe). All Impalas are either 3.5L V6 (211hp) or 3.9L V6 (241hp) except for the SS, which has the 303 hp 5.3L small block.

Thanks Joe.

THe LTZ's appearance package looks damn good for a V-6 car. Looking at the pictures posted here I hated the car's styling. Now seeing one and knowing you can even get a V-6 model that looks like that LTZ is pretty sweet!

Re: Spotted an '06 Impala Today

I was driving home from the emissions center a couple of weeks ago in the Camaro and I was right behind a delivery truck with an Impala at the tailend along with an SSR. The Impala had dual exhaust, not sure if it was an SS or what not, I cant recall off hand noticing any SS badges, I just remember dual mufflers. The SSR was beautiful, it had some sort of paint scheme I haven't seen before, kind of like a blue, purple, green metallic all blended together.
