Mervz, I think they will be making the Camaro again in a few years. I have faith in Bob Lutz that he wont let us Camaro fans down. I see you are in Weare...I live in Bennington, about 10 mi south of Hillsborough.

I understand what you mean, but he knew that mustangs were still in production. But the fact is, maybe if more people knew they existed, then maybe they would have sold more so GM wouldnt have had to give us that bs excuse that Camaros werent selling. I realize that my dad may be part of a small minority that didnt know that they werent still in production, but advertising would have helped that was my main point with that comment.

There is no excuse for this whole "oh um...we can't really say if we might possibly be making a new Camaro...we'll drop hints, but we can't tell you we're even looking into making one"

No excuse. I'm sorry. And they're not even trying to give us one.

So yeah, nothing but ill for GM because they're saying "Hey, go buy a Cavalier, we'll have a new Camaro in 30 years!"

Yeah, eat me GM.

I'll have some positive feelings towards GM when I go to the Chevy dealer and I can find a new car that costs less than $30,000 and excites me.

Nobody ever said anything about acting like hooligans. Its called a peaceful protest - and is a damned fine American tradition. Hellfire and brimstone, the damned COMMUNISTS AND ISLAMIC WHACK JOBS pulled one off in Washington recently protesting the coming war, and you're going to tell me that WE can't???
Blocking traffic in downtown Detroit during rush hour is not what I would consider "peaceful." You can't compare it to the flower-power people in DC. There's a difference between protesting and protesting while interfering with everyone else's ability to live. I'm telling you that shutting down a major street in Detroit like a bunch of road pirates, in the end, will do nothing but harm.

I gotta admit, I agree with this. At least all the letters, phone calls, and such that were directed at Donald Petersen didn't affect the lives of everyday workers and people trying to bring home a living. They impacted the right man, alone, and in concentrated form. PLEASE, think of Murphy's Law and what might happen if you did this...

I don't know about you guys, but it would be just my luck that as we clogged up the street, some guy in Headquarters would suffer a heart attack from the commotion and die, because the ambulance couldn't get to him in time. Or some such thing. And THAT would be what made headlines... "Unprovoked Gathering of Demonstrators Results in Death of Worker"... or some such crap. Why even risk it?

Also, you would put your perspective image (car-lover or troublemaker?) in the hands of the MEDIA, not GM, or yourselves. It would be a huge opportunity for the media to display the wrong side of us car-loving guys as being troublesome - whether true or not. (And we all know that we aren't troublemakers, right? ) Do you think the media would rather broadcast a "makeshift car show hits Downtown this morning", or "an unprovoked gathering of gearheads caused mayhem in Downtown Detroit this morning, resulting in 47 accidents, 3 injuries, and thousands of perturbed workers who were late for work. Police had to move in to disburse the protesters and unclog streets so emergency vehicle service and general commerce could be restored." I think I know which version "Porter-the-Reporter" would choose to scream on the radio and TV to get you to tune in...

Now, if you were to organize a rally in a stadium parking lot, with permission from the land owners and having notified State Troopers/local Police so they could be available to help manage traffic... now we might be getting somewhere. And taking the time to plan it and arrange everything would be to your benefit over an abrupt and unorganized "appearance" of several thousand F-bods too IMO. It would allow time for hype to brew, people to plan their trips, and press to get ready for footage, etc. Personally, I'd borrow, rent, or ride wiith a buddy in a Z28 and I'd be there too.
