As i posted on the last thread this is a pro gm site would should know its not gona be accepted with open arms here sorry man. people compare this to the the zo6 and z51 becuase there the best of what gm offered just as if you went to a dodge sight and it was compared to a viper or to a ford site to a gt40or gt 500. it natural for people to root for the home team and put there best up against the competitions best.
im by no means bashing this car and i wont unless it deserves it and ill wont jump the gun its not even in production yet.

Put into fewer words - the guy who can afford a GT-R will probably also be able to afford a Z06 if he wants one, and will probably buy a Ford GT as well if it suits his fancy on that particular day. We're talking about folks that are not forced to make choices based upon limited economic resources.

Another problem is applying the same price-vs-performance rationalization to an $85K car that one would apply to a $35K car. Of course, that particular line of thinking is rarely applied by the average buyer of cheaper cars anyways, but it's an especially faulty way of characterizing those who purchase vehicles in that near-six-figure range.

Alternative, just get a few hours of formal instruction on how to pilot your new vehicle, as most of my car's victims are simply the result of poor driving.

All depends on how much contempt you hold for your vehicle's well-being. Any sign of care or concern will sharply impact your ability to pose any sort of threat

Not to whiz on the Skyline's parade the new Porsche Cheyenne is quicker around Nurburgring. 
However, no, many people here will never understand the Nissan Skyline GTR. H*ll, most can't even grasp the concept of what Mustang is all about. There's too many people putting a costs-vs-horsepower or cost-vs-performance value on everything without other considerations, and thats where the does-not-compute light comes on when their assumptions fall to pieces. Attempt to explain that a GTO isn't a competitor to Mustang, or that it was meant to sell no more than 18K per year, and you still get that shorted mental loop in some that are still telling you how GTO would sell like Mustangs... "only if GM...".

The GTR isn't a car anyone on this site will buy. It costs entirely too much and too few people understand the car's history, reputation, and purpose. But that doesn't mean it isn't a great car in it's own right and that it will no doubt sell very well for it's market.
I'm glad to see the car come here to the US finally. I'll never buy one, but that doesn't mean I don't appriciate the car.

I understand that there probably aren't a lot of people who frequent this site that will actually buy a GT-R but why would you say no one on this site will - I'm on this site and I plan to buy one!
I admit, it's just a "plan" at the moment and I may well change my mind (especially when the details of the next "Z" are released) but there may be at least a few others around this site who, like me, who want one and will shell out the $$ to buy one.By the way, I wouldn't mind knowing where your figures came from, when they were posted and by whom and what track at the Ring you are talking about because this is the first time I've heard this from anyone.

However, there was an auto-x that I competed in a many years ago. I was driving my Corrado G60 and was just barely behind the 1st place BMW 325. The thought that I actually might have a chance to be first in my class, completely overwhelmed any impulse which I might have had to "save the car".
VW's have a tendency to lift their inner hind wheel when pushed around a tight course hard. At that's exactly how I drove around most of the track that day - on three wheel banzai runs - alternately lifting the the rear left and then rear right. In the end, I just couldn't run down that damned BMW, he was just too good of a driver for me. And actually, to see him going around the course, he was so smooth, it almost looked like he was going down to the corner 7-11 for a gallon of 2% milk. He didn't even look like he was driving very hard.
Anyway, on my commute to work the next morning, in addition to my chunked up front Pirellis - I noticed that I had about 6 new squeaks and rattles. I betcha that smooth BMW guy, the one who took 1st place, had none.

Maybe we need to move this to the AutoX category??? 
I've never had anything serious break on any car I've autocrossed; of course you can expect brake wear and tire wear and I go through about one set of tires and pads per season.
I remember one event here a couple of years ago when the slowest time of the day was set by a guy in a Ferrari who was obviously far too concerend about his car to ever attempt to drive it with spirit (which sort of made us all wonder why he brought it out in the first place).
It is a good observation that the best drivers won't look as if they are driving hard at all...you'll see fluid movements and a lot of control and they'll make it look like a leisurely Sunday drive (even while they are cleaning your clock in the process).

for the 4th gens LS1 f-body's at least you may want to keep an eye on your powersteering fluid.. Stock LS1 PS pump runs pretty fast, and "froths" up the fluid and can bubble over and at least temporarily lose powersteering, if you're aggresive, with high RPMS and sticky tire.
Also, for all 4th gens if you run a beefy front sway bar, you maybe able to tear out the front sway bar mounts if you do some heavy cornering with sticky tire..
Think those are the two things to watch out for for 4th gen f-bod's..
and make sure your oil levels are good, brakes good, things bolted down, etc, etc etc.
