The blended mirrors were Chevy's way of making the trailing edge of the hood higher (i.e. farther from the ground) in order to cover the wipers and other plastic at the base of the windshield. If they didn't blend the mirrors, it would have forced the trailing edge of the fender to have to make a large drop downward to meet the bottom of the side glass, which would have looked odd. You'll note that Firebirds chose instead to just leave the wipers etc. exposed and have a slightly lower, shorter hood.

Anyhow, to answer the original question, the sketches shown so far are waaaay too retro for my tastes. They should keep evolving the themes of the 4th gens.

-Make sure if the body goes semi retro that the interior no matter what goes modern.
-Leave out the blended mirror and any body integration.
-No chrome bar.
-Vette like quad circular taillights
-Flare the fenders like 3rd's and 1st's which will show the wide tires.
-I don’t mind the uprightness, this car needs to be everyday friendly.
The stance in this concept pic looks fine to me.
-Work in T-tops or true Targa if it looks good. Convertible is also a must.
-Cowl hood on Z28 model, hood scoop like 4th gen SS’s for SS
-real trunk
-modern head lights like the C6, I forgot the specific name.

Definately do something to distinguish between the base car, and the V8 models.

Blending, as in 4th Gens, tends to give it a profile of a "wedge" and kill any flowing or sculpting body lines...and it just looks odd to have basically a 4ft long side-view mirror/hump...kinda like the "humungus" blended rear bumper on the Monte SS, unless it's a 2-tone paint scheme it looks huge and heavy..
