Since you know what direction the 5th Gen is going in so far, what would YOU change??
Or suggest STYLE/DESIGN-wise?? (not engine, power, etc.) In reference to this Picture: http://www.wyattcon.net/images/F5Camaro.jpg and this Post: http://www.cheersandgears.com/boards...TOPIC_ID=13557
We know GM and people that work directly with the Camaro come here, so add in your suggestions to give some direction and opinions from the customers about the 5th Gen's styling from what we have learned about it recently. It's rumored that the overall style is basically done but changes can/will still be made.
Mine:
-Leave out the blended mirror and any body intergration.
-No chrome bar.
-Roof is a little too round.
-Optional hatch.
-Do not make entire car retro like 05 M*stang. Same for interior.
-Use a few cues from every Gen if possible, (especially the 3rd!
) not just from the 1st. Mix with new designs ext. and int.
-Leave out the body-width open grill. It's not the 60's.
-Add in sharp wrap-around taillights and spolier.
-Use GFX, even if only on certain models.
-Flare the fenders like 3rd's and 1st's which will show the wide tires.
-Put third brake light in the spoiler like 87-90 cars.
-Make it a little less upright and more "sporty" (lower) and wider.
-Have T-Tops or a targa if there can't be T-Tops.
I also had an idea about not using a complete full body-width grill if this type of "retro" design must be used. (I'd rather it not) Center the grill and put the lights separate on the sides of the grill (say like the 69 RS) but paint that area the headlights are in black to match grill and recess them a little. No divider or body color between grill and light pockets. Shape pockets somewhat like 3rd's but a little rounder. Rake it, angle it some, and make it wrap around the car a little instead of being flat on the front. Could look pretty good/better.

I heart blended mirrors into body
Thats one of my fav features about the 4th gens stylings, its unique and it looks good.
Definately flare the fenders.
Keep the sleekness of a 4th gen. I don't want an upright Mustangish muscle car.
Ttops are a must.

That blended mirror thing was news to me as of today. I think it's a forced, gimmicky doo-dad. If the styling is as nice as I've heard..we don't need design tricks to ruin it.
Tricks are for kids.

IF the car is going to go after a 1st gen please god put no GFX on it. IT will look hideous. The only generation that I think actually looks good with GFX is the 3rd every other looks/would look horrible IMO. And you must give us a T-top option!!!!
OH and for god's sake get it to the dealerships. Because I will eb there teh year after. (I don't trust first year cars.)

As far as styleing, I like the Muscle Tone car, that would be the perfect 5th Gen for me.
Other options:
Versatrak AWD on the 3.9L V6 Camaro
LS2
If there is a 2nd V8, I'd like a 350HP 5.3L w/ LS2 heads/cam

I would have perfered that the new car draw its basic lines from some of the great GT cars...350-375, DB7 etc. Much like what the '70 car did.
That with some retro details would have been my wish.
That with some retro details would have been my wish.
1) Give it some 1st Gen type fenders, '68 is sexiest!.don't over-do
2) Separate the fender from the side mirrors, don't distort fender
3) Give it a spoiler, between a 1st & pre-'91 3rd Gen in height
4) I like the taller easier, enter/exit body, just don't get it too far off the ground..
5) TRUNK no hatch = good..
6) Modern tail lights, not wrap around, like 4th Gen but with round "hot-spots..
6) Flatter rear facia, like 1st Gen but evolved
7) Rear fuel fill point, again, can access pumps more easily
8) Leave enough wheel room for wider rim's/tires
**Take the C6 as a "Model Approach" to the new "C" car..**

I liked the blended mirrors and fenders I'd keep them.
I wouldn't put any bar or a grill between the headlights. I'd keep it all down on the chin.
I much more agreesive or meaner looking face.
some sculpted lines inthe hood (ala 1970)
a deep front chin spoiler.
If it'ss have a 'B' pillar, ptu the door handles on blackened out 'b'-pillar like the Beretta, GP, and Cutlass in the '90s.
Steeper windshield rake for a sleeker, fighter jet look and feel.
I'm kinda torn (on that image) of an 'angled panel' type spoiler (2nd gens) or a hoop spoiler like the '92 Z28.

As long as it has t-tops, a T-56, looks mean and says Camaro, I am happy...
No t-tops = I buy my dad's '02 Formula from him, or go IROC hunting...I will NOT have a hardtop cruiser, and cowl shake makes me sick lol...
