Silverado sales crash
Speaking of the Avalanche, that could be a major factor in any Silverado slowdowns. I'm sure Avalanche sales have just recetly peaked though I have no numbers to prove it.
And yes the new and clad-free Avalanche variant looks absolutely horrible. The original design is the winner.

On the regular truck the new look to me doesn't match to the rest of the truck very well. It looks good on the SS and the HD trucks but they should have retained the bulge hoods on the HD trucks.
GMCs look much better to me. If I were in the market for a truck I'd get a GMC.
I thought Chevys truck sales were closing in on Fords. In reality Chevy sells more trucks to the public than Ford, because Ford sells a ton of fleet trucks to business, etc. each year.

You can't compare sales of one month to another month a year ago..................Comparing 1 year to another is much more accurate for gauging sales.

I'm not a fan of the escalade/avalanch like front end treatment. Nor am i a fan of the edgy lines of the CTS. They took a truck that was easily the best looking in it's class and messed it up (my opinion). The new Ram has grown on me and i actually like it now, so maybe the new GM's will as well.

Something to think about.
THe 2003 Silverado front looks great from the front, but not from the profile. Since the head lights don't wrap around as much it makes the Silverado look like it has too much overhang on the front. If I was going to get a '03 Silverado I would make sure it had the fender flares, they look much better with those.
I would think that sales SHOULD be up Jan. 2003 vrs. Jan. 2002. America was still in shock over 9/11 last January. Even though sales from one month, exactly a year in between aren't always ACCURATE, I think its good to use it as a tool. This COULD be a sign that the new body style isn't catching on to the public yet (Even though I love it). Since other trucks/SUVs seem to be selling at the same pace, it can't be a gas crisis. Someone should do some referencing as to see how some other trucks sold a few months after a major make-over.

Exactly. But then again, most of the people here obviously don't know a thing about buisness. They just want to rip GM as much as they can.

Speaking of ripping GM,Look at how the T-bird is selling.500 down from last year and it is a BIG deal,Vette is down 1000.Does it matter?Heck no it doesnt it is winter for heavens sake this is "normal"But going off of how vehicles have been selling for the last 10 years or so it isnt considered normal.l.Yeah using month to month sales figures is kind of a pissing match but either way it is how the INDUSTRY tells if they are up or down.So to be exact GM is down.It isnt making headlines is it?No.Is a niche car like the Tbird?Yes.
Either way I see your words are well respected on this forum,Im not trying to degrade you in anyway,So with that I wish you- good day
Well I had an 02 2500 with a 366 a year ago, it was a knocking pos so I got rid of it as fast as you would get rid of a moped in front of your friends. Hopefully with sales dropping GM will actually get off thier asses and fix thier lemons instead of claiming "it's normal"
I'm sure the ugly noses aren't helping either.

Go look at December's numbers first. Very heavy year-end incentives......when those incentives come off (and there were regional incentives on trucks based on state you live in) the next month will normally be off.
You can't judge a vehicle's success on a 30 day sales report.
As I recall, when we brought the new Silverado out, most hated it too, as the 'old' CK truck was familiar........kinda like your favorite pair of blue jeans..........

Overall GM sales were down 2.5% compared to January of 2002. That had allot to do with truck, Suv, and van sales slipping 19%. But car sales increased by 23% compared to last January of 2002.
