Smaller. I saw an 05 Mustang yesterday that had 18s, and it seriously looked like an SUV, it was TOWERING over all the FBodies.

Look smaller. Be (slightly) bigger.

And oh yeah... Go faster.

I dunno. I don't mean any offense to the people on this forum, but if I was running the show for the next Camaro, I probably would not listen to the vast majority of the 5th Gen suggestions that are posted on here.

What I meant was the first time I saw, (and drove), a fourth gen F-body I didn't think it looked very big. Then I got in it and was like damn, this thing is huge...I can't see the front end, I can hardly see the over the rear, and I feel like I'm 3 inches off the ground...Needless to say it took a little getting used to but I almost immediately loved it and am now completely comfortable. And to tell you the truth I wouldn't have it any other way Basically if you take a 4th. gen F-body and look at it by itself it doesn't look nearly as big as it actually is, or at least not to me Now, put it next to another car and you'll see it's pretty big.

I think the 4th gens would feel alot smaller if the base of the windsheild was closer to the driver (like the 3rg gens or C5/6 'Vettes) and the seating position was more like the 3rd gens.

Personally it's a trade off I'm comfortable with because I like the 'fighter jet' feel (from the passenger seat, especially behind the '93 -'96 instrument panel) the both of those elements gives the car.

In case anyone is interested, a product planner will be listening to everything here, and also trying to figure out why we're saying it, and not using any of this info as a direct giudeline for the new car. There are alot of reasons why, but mainly what we say here is being used as 'general guidelines' to define the new car.

not very familiar with the new Mustang, as far as driving etc goes. However, I am somewhat familiar with (as in much drolling over and test driving of) the New GTO. I would say something about 90% of the overrall size would make for a nice sized pony car. Or something akin to a evolutionary 3rd gen, I really liked the overall proportions of my 91(though the backseat could have been a tad more roomy).

I thought the 4th gen z28's were rediculously HUGE. @ 193+ inches long, it certainly was.

I'd like the 5th gen to be smaller than the new mustang. But cars in general are getting bigger, not smaller and i don't think we'll see a new camaro that's smaller than the new stang.

Re: Should the new Camaro be smaller or larger than the "05 Mustang?

It would be uncharacteristically prescient for GM to build a new, modern Camaro that is relatively lightweight (~3000 lb. or less), fun, efficient, not "retro", and not HUGE. So I figger we'll end up with an extremely gaudy, too-too-retro while at the same time CAD-sterile design (out-Mustanging the Mustang), that weighs 4000 lb., and has 400hp, right when gas goes up to $3.00/gal.

Timing is everything. Count on GM to NOT have it.

I wouldnt be tooooo sure of that . GM knows what a Camaro is , and alot of the folks working on it have emotional ties to it . Go back to 1997 when the C5 came out and what a impact it created . Personally , I think thats the kinda impact the new Camaro is gonna have , just perfection They certainly know how starved the Camaro fans are for a car , its probably gonna create more buzz at launch than the C6 did ....I don't think they screw it up

Re: Should the new Camaro be smaller or larger than the "05 Mustang?

On the way home last night I saw a Charger R/T up close and personal. Dang that thing looked huge. (My inital thought was land yaht.) Even bigger than an Impala IMO. A few minutes went by and a '05 Mustang pulled along side me. It definitely had ponycar proportions. Later I saw a Cobalt SS and thought, dang that thing is small.

My conclusion is I still hold by my initial vote. The current Mustang has excellent portions for a new Camaro. If you want smaller, buy a Cobalt.

It should be along the size of a 1st gen Camaro.

i'm still sticking by my same size opinion, but i want to say something as far as feel goes. right now, i have a 3rd and 4th gen and love them both. that cockpit feel in my 4th is so nice for cruising, but i love the visibility of my 3rd. i'm hoping they can get somewhere of a mix of those 2 for the 5th gen.

How about lower and wider.
