Should the new Camaro be smaller or larger than the "05 Mustang?
Re: Should the new Camaro be smaller or larger than the "05 Mustang?
I think this is a little too vague. Plus, why not a 'goldielocks' option ("it's just right")?
I'd like the Camaro a little smaller...I think. I say I think because I like the way the 'Stang looks in profile from certain 3/4 quarter and head on angles. However, I think the boxy-ness of the whole car makes it look too big and ungainly, especially parked next to my 4th gen.
I like the width of the 'Stang, not crazy about it's length (especially the long overhang and box butt), it's height seems OK. The same dimensions on a sleeker car would probably look alot better IMO.

From the out side it needs to appear smaller but I'm 6'6" so I need it to be well accommodating on the inside when it comes to well used space.
The '05 Stang appears to be bubbly and large from some perspectives to me.

Re: Should the new Camaro be smaller or larger than the "05 Mustang?
I would like a new Camaro to be slightly smaller on the outside, slightly bigger on the inside. That's a perfect world. I suppose I'd sacrifice a couple inches externally though for a bit more room in the back seat. Gorgeous sheet metal can obscure the fact that a car is big.
Re: Should the new Camaro be smaller or larger than the "05 Mustang?
That comparison would seem to indicate the 4th gen designed and used it's interior space better. Many of those dimension for the Mustang aren't significantly better compared to how much bigger it is, especially headroom.
Re: Should the new Camaro be smaller or larger than the "05 Mustang?
Thanks HAZMATT for the reality check before herd menality took over.
Mustang ISN'T a big car. The reason it looks big is because in order to have a decent sized trunk (what today's public demands) it has to have a tall and wide rear.
As for overhangs, Mustang DOES NOT have a long front overhang, and it's rear overhang looks exagerated because the front's is so short.
It's pretty telling that on a website that favors the 4th gen Camaro that anyone has the ***** to say a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g about a "too large" pony cars or excessive overhangs!
FWIW: I favor a Camaro that's the same size as the Mustang, but it wasn't a choice on the poll.

I dunno Guy, I always saw the new Mustang's proportions as looking verrrry similar to the Lincoln LS it is loosely based on...short overhang up front and exaggerated hang out back. It probably isn't a coincidence.
Re: Should the new Camaro be smaller or larger than the "05 Mustang?
It's been said by others above, but generally speaking, I would vote for approximately the same size, but a little more legroom on the rear. I actually think the GTO is just about perfect on the inside ... exception for the gas tank placement, and actually getting into and out of the rear seats.
