Saw an HHR today....

You know, it looked pretty cool. Very nice interior also. Very impressed.

I saw a new Impala on the road yesterday also. It was an LT, I think. Sure hope the SS looks more dynamic in motion, because this was one boring looking car.

Re: Saw an HHR today....

I've seen a few now, and I'm still not feeling it. I'm sorry, but all I can think of is the PT Cruiser when I see one. I have no doubt the HHR is a capable car (oops, truck), and I happen to think the Vibe/Matrix/HHR type of vehicle is a great idea. I just wish GM would have followed a unique direction for this one.

I thought it was a dub product and one that produced overlap with the vibe. Early on I thought it would never be real competition for the PT because of price and entrenched buyers that love them. I think I was wrong now. It looks significantly diffent then the PT if you are not trying to point out the similarities. I think they should stop producing the vibe and make an awd HHR to have the segment covered.

I like the way you think.

Re: Saw an HHR today....

I saw one in person, and I love it.

As for the Impy SS Charlie, don't expect much more excitement. The same dealer with the HHR has a black Impy SS...$31,500, fully loaded. Don't get me wrong...the inside is nice (but the shifter is PLASTIC...WTF??????), and the outside is attractive. But its not aggressive enough. Adding wheels and a spoiler do not add enough visual pizzazz. I'm not a big fan of tacky gfx, but this car needs something.

If I got one, I said I'd get billet grilles for it like they offer for GPs. My friend with me agreed that those, tinted windows and better wheels might be enough to transform the car. Very nice in person, but it doesn't exactly stir the soul either.

I saw one yesterday while car shopping. It was blue and very pretty. They said they could do the employee price on it, but not the V8 Grand Prix. Poo (wheels and brakes look NICE on that car, BTW)

I also saw a blue one driving around yesterday. It is kind of a sharp car, but it is nothing I will jump in line to get. Also, GM wont do employee pricing on the Grand Prix GXP? That is stupid.

Re: Saw an HHR today....

He said "hold on and i'll see what the good price is on that one {interrupts hiself} Oh nevermind, that's an '06. It (employee pricing) doesnt apply to '06 models."

I didnt think the HHR was a day older than an '06 model??

The new Impala is a sweet looking car and would be a smash hit if the right wheels were driving it.

I saw an HHR on the road. Not bad looking, I wouldnt buy it, but im almost always a fan of doing something different.

I thought a lot more of the xB than the PT although more attractive than the former, when i saw it.

I also saw a car carrier loaded with mostly Impala SS's. I'm trying very hard to like this car, but I just can't shake this feeling.

Big dealer mark up on an Impala of all things?!

At least I don't suspect it will take dealers as long to bring prices back to earth on a family car as it did for them to come back to reality on the GTO.

I agree with you on the new Impy's looks. It's a quality looking piece, but it's lost alot of personality like the G6-Grand Am has.

I think the HHR is going to be a smash hit.
(Yeah, I remember.... I used to slam the thing. )

Re: Saw an HHR today....

That was no dealer markup...there was no second sticker. They already sold it too! That's what a fully loaded Impala SS will run you...I don't think that's such a bad thing, either.

$27,800 = base
+$1,000 = leather
+ $900 = sunroof
+ $325 = XM
+ $495 = Bose
+ $300 = 6 CD
+ $300 = polished wheels
+something else...(side airbags????)

= $31,500

Considering Chargers can easily get into the mid $30s apparently, its competitive. And doesn't have a Mack truck front end, either
