Saturn Haggling

I got this from the other thread about Saturns.
What is the policy on the no haggling? Are none of the dealers aloud to do it? What if GM had a no haggle certification. Where the dealer got a sticker in their window or banner or something for being certified as a haggle free dealer? Is that legal? Could GM advertise "look for the no haggle sticker" or something for an entire dealer, or for certain cars on the lot? Could this supress the markups on newer vehicles?

Good question. Has anyone been able to haggle down a Sautrn price. I mean dealers can easily tack on prices for wanted itmes such as the Sky. So does anyone know if you can actually haggle with the "no haggle pricing of Saturn"? LOL

When Saturn dealers were gouging on Skys, they explained it by saying "no haggle" means everyone pays the same price. It doesn't mean that price is the MSRP. So as long as they gouged all customers equally then they said they were complying with the letter (if not the spirit) of the no haggle policy.

I understand that, but some dealers were charging different prices than others. This would only apply to a specific dealer. I guess technically some dealers can lower their no haggle price to sell more cars than other dealers?

Yes, this applies only to an individual dealer. Each dealer is an independent business free to set their own retail price. Many dealers sold Skys at MSRP, while others tacked on $3000 'alarms' or protection package BS. I suppose they could vary their pricing somewhat by varying the tacked on crap. But in general each customer at a specific dealer should have paid the same price.

I talked down the price of a Vue $900 2 weeks ago. When they say no haggle they really mean it. It took me 2 hours to get them to come down.
