And I could see that, but the Vibe platform (even saddled with somewhat peaky Toyota power) is so much newer and more dynamically refined than the Sunfire. (I had a Cavalier for a daily driver for a few years and it's a creakbox if there ever was one). I don't believe there are current replacement plans for the Sunfire at all, are there? I know it's going to continue on as a 2 door only for the next few years, but I don't know what the plan is beyond that. The classic GPs are great cars. Can't beat the looooong hood of the second gen. Grand Prix.

Oh, they don't have to call it Sunfire. And they better not use the J-car platform. They just need something in that segment that will blow the imports out of the water.

And I would love to get my hands on a '69 GP SJ with the 428HO, 4-speed manual, Saf-T-Track diff, and loaded up. How sweet would that be?
Some writer, and I can't remember his name, once described the GP as "an athlete in a tuxedo". How true.

We've got the GTO below that. They should offer a cheaper version, also. With cloth seats, 5-speed manual trans, 16" wheels, and some power stuff missing. Throw in a 250 hp V-8 (4.8 L out of the trucks?) and call this the Tempest.

This plan will set Pontiac right.

I'd sure go for it!

Drop it on the AWD Epsilion platform that's under the new Saab's and the new Opel Vectra's.
