At least it looks like a higher grade car (Grand Prix)this time around than what it was based on in the 60's (Tempest & LeMans).

....say "no" to retro.

LOVE it. What more could you ask for than a car that is world class in every category and has styling consistent with Pontiac's current and future image? (bye bye body-side cladding) Even though it may be starting out as a niche car, it must have mass appeal if there are plans to transition to an American built high volume version. In the market, first impressions are critical.

As previously noted, I'd love the car with Monaro still on it.

As a GTO, sorry but no-deal.

Side-note: a hood with two tiny, non-functional simulated scoops tastefully integrated within, or a more rectangular two section grill with different edge trim does not mean "retro", IMHO.

My thoughts exactly:

At this time I would have to say "no", but......I would have to see the car in person. A car like that (IMHO it looks to European than an American Muscle Car) may have a tendency to grow on you. So I would rather reserve any critizism until I see it and possibly drive it.

Not GTO related, but wasn't important enough to start a new thread, so I'll tack it on here since this is style related.

Was at the airport Friday & picked up a copy of Rolling Stone Magazine & there was an article of Bob Lutz(?!) in there.

He said some things that shed light on how Aztec happened. In short, previous upper management (I read that as Ron Zarella & co.) didn't tolerate dissent. Whenever a designer or car guy raised questions on a vehicle's design on a vehicle upper management decided to back, they were chastized for not playing as a team or being "on board". Unfortunately, much of upper management came from outside the car business, or had no feel for it.

The 2 page article isn't worth buying the whole magazine if you normally don't, but it is pretty good and worth a read.
