return of el camino?

who else would like to see the return of the el camino?
i myself, would like to see it. i find it exciting to have like a sportscar that doubles as a truck.
i'm designing a few concepts for it, and will post them when i get them finalized and scanned, but in the meantime, if it were to comeback, what would go with it? (chassis, engine, etc.)
im thinkin v8 rwd atleast. (but isnt that what we would like all our chevys to be )

Motorweek says that the SSR actually drives like a roadster--responsive, nimble, but with a truck bed behind you.

Speaking of El Caminos.... have you seen that Holden is going to selling an extended cab version of the Ute?

El Camino type vehicles have never done anything for me... I doubt I would ever consider one.

However, there seems to be a cult following for it, so I suppose it could be viable. I don't see it having huge production/sales numbers, though.

HOT ROD you beat me to it.

I was gonn say that I like this one the best...

If they bring it over here I'm sure it wouldn't have any problems selling. Heck it would probably be compared to the Lightning even though they are very different. What do these bad boys run in the 1/4? Are they slower than the Monaros down under? Ude/AnthonyHSV care to comment?

A newly announced El Camino would cause me to shelve my plans to buy a new Mustang or GTO in a year or so.

I was initially looking forward to buying one when I found out a year and a half ago that the UTE would be exported here before the Monaro was (the 25% US tariff on imported trucks killed that idea straight away).

The good thing was that former Chevy general manager, Kurt Ritter was intrested in bringing back the Camino, and Bob Lutz is perhaps even more gung-ho about it than he was, so if there's a will, there's going to be a way.

Just hope it comes before I jump on the GTO or Mustang bandwagon.

I'm with you on that. I just hope I can convince my wife that it actually is a truck!
