Re: Requiem for a real Pontiac lineup

While those nostrils are wretched, and the wing is a little long, I dig that car I'd buy that, even as is! Put a supercharged 3900 under there pushing 300hp??

See BDnF, THAT would sell!!!!!!!!!! Sadly, I still haven't seen a G6 coupe on the road, besides the one I sold myself

96 Camaro,
I completely agree with your GXP comments. I just wish it was wrapped in a car that is as well done and styled in and out as, say, even a G6. The inside of a G6 is very nice in relation to the Grand Prix, and if the outside of the G6 got the enhancements a GXP GP gets over the base model? THAT would sell well...

Yeah that's it. Now it may not be perfect, but it at least gives the G6 some character and attitude, and like Jason said put a 300hp + 3.9 in there, and I don't see how it would not sell? Damn, this does depress me as a Pontiac enthusiast: Where is the product?

Now THATS excitement!

It's not going to appeal to alot of us because it looks overdone. But then again, so was the Grand Am, & Pontiac sold the begezzus out of them despite less than stellar assembly quality.

The G6 HAS potential. But like Ford and the Lincoln LS, instead of doing things to get the most out of it, it seems like GM is content to let the things sit as is.

Re: Requiem for a real Pontiac lineup

I don't want to hijack this thread, or start up the Pontiac is goig away rumors, but why isn't Pontiac being given more attention? Understanding that GM has limited resources and has to allocate them wisely, I just get the feeling Pontiac is being neglected. Maybe like Flowmotion said, with Pontiac being grouped with Buick and GMC sales channels, maybe Pontiac can deliver niche type products that appeal to performance oriented individuals. I just hope that whoever is in charge at Pontica, starts fighting for some exciting products.

RP- How 'bout some more detail on that "breath-taking" RWD sedan you are privy to!

Please God, give it to Pontiac and let them build an earth-shattering new Bonneville .... "If you build it they will come!"

I'm so damn sick of the crappy-interior Mopar boxes selling like hot-cakes. They sell so well because they have no real competition.....

They need a sporty 2 door coupe that's fater than a Mustang GT but can seat 5 people and tow a boat.

RMC isn't kidding about the crappy interiors, either...the inside of the Charger gives the GP interior a run for its money, its so ugly...

Re: Requiem for a real Pontiac lineup

I know most will look at that new G6 GXP (or whatever model it is) with the whale tail and say it is too far overdone but let's remember that Pontiac did really well with big F'n chickens on the hood of their baddest ride so maybe another extreme, overdone, look at my midlife crisis car is what Pontiac needs?

I love Pontiac as much as anyone- but they do need some help right now. Oh yea, I have a new GTO and it does look just like a 97-03 GP. Not bad looking, but not up to date either. It's still a great looking car (cause mine has a shaker!) but I don't think the car is very modern visually- functionally it's another story but if people aren't excited about looking at a car they aren't going to test drive one.

No kidding. We rented a Charger R/T last week while on business in STL...talk about an "interior by Rubbermaid." Makes me wonder what GM ever did to deserve all the interior criticism. The idiotic placement of the turn signal stalk in relation to the cruise control stalk made me leave the right turn signal on after a lane change on more than one occasion (drive one and you'd understand).

Pretty darn quick for a big sedan, I will admit. It felt about as quick as my old LT1 Camaro.
