YAY!!!

Thats the best news I've read in the 5th gen section all year!

Also to add to the reasons why people are more comfortable in the Mustang, the Mustang's visablity is just plain better all around. You can see your hood, vision out the back glass is improved as is your blind spot. Coupled with the upright seating position, the car is just plain easier to drive.

Merry Christmas!

2 things I don't like about the news:
1. It will be taller(I can live with it as long as it is not too bad)
2. Heavier-the Camaro does not need to be heavier at all.......period.
3. A trunk- no sporty looking car has a trunk.

I guess that is 3 points but everything else looks pretty good....................I just want to see a Z back in the line-up.

Since this is ...as guion said....a "speculation" thread....I'd speculate that the base V6 coupe and SS coupe would both be rolled out together .

Why wouldn't a 5.3L make in a Camaro? Fullsize trucks still use the engine in a RWD application. Throw a cam and some exhaust on and theres a 5.3L for Camaro duty.

Anythoughts on 2 different displacement V8s?
And I sure hope the T-tops are optional--the last few years of the Trans Am there were std equipment.

Great stuff gang. The two things I don't like gui are the "more weight" and "t-tops" part. If the Camaro is a beast and tips the scales upwards of 3800-4000 lbs, its going to take massive amounts HP to keep it competitive with the competition. And we all know about the "Corvette Rule". As for t-tops, I always wanted them until I had them. I'd rather see a sunroof option to go with the standard coupe and convertible.

As for Z/28 as a special edition.... that's what I've been asking for from day one. However, how long after are we going to see it? Is it going to be a later 2007 model, or are we talking 2008, 2009, 2010??? I really want a 2007 Camaro to go with my 67's... but I also want the baddass car I think the Z/28 is going to be. (And I know my wife won't let me buy both. )

Corvette Z06's have a trunk.

I knew someone would say that. You could say that a Corvette convertable has a trunk or a Camaro convertable but they still don't look as sleek as the regular coupe.
One of the main reasons why I bought a Camaro and not a Mustang when I was 16 was because the Camaro looks the part of a sports car, while the mustang looks more like a pumped up economy car(especially the old Fox body). If the Camaro is going towards the Mustang formula then I might have to buy elsewhere. When I am in my car, I want to feel like I am in a sports car not a Civic. I realize that it might have to be this way for sales, which is fine, I can accept that, but then it is no longer for me. I used C5 might be best. We will see.

Thumbs up

I'm very confident we'll get 3 engine choices this time around.

That news kinda disappoints me.

1) I really wanted a hatch in the 5th gen (its so convenient)

2) The 4th gen weighed almost too much. News that the 5th gen will br 3600-4000 lbs really really disappoints me.

3) The taller, more upright look doesn't say camaro to me. I grew around the 3rd and 4th gens. The very low slung land missile look is screams camaro much more than the upright G35 look.

I would expect the standard commodore platform to be around 3900-4000lbs. If the Camaro is built on a smaller version, its weight should be less. There is still talk of a 'Torana' here in Aus, ie. a smaller version of the commodore.

I thought Torana was dead. What's the latest on it.

In a recent interview the retiring Holden CEO said he was dissapointed at how far along the project was, but it is known that Holden have a team working on it, who have been seperated from the main group so the car doesn't look to 'commodore' like.

Please keep us up to date!

From what I've read, the Torana seems like a perfect platform mate to Camaro.

Torana/Camaro

Monaro/GTO.
