I personally think HSV car is a bit too much . How about the HSV mechanicals with the look of a Calais

Only reason I asked is that it seems alot of Americans think the Aus styling boring, I prefer the Calais as well but from what I see of American tastes I am in the minority. Have a look at what they say on cheersandgears...to them its plain and boring??
A V6 and a range of models would probably make a big difference for the Commodore. Then again, I thought the GTO was darn near perfect so my judgement might be off.
I dunno, it's not bad, but it's definately not that great to me. Can't help but thinking it already looks 5-6 years old.
Maybe I'm just not as conservative, or conservative at all, as the general market.

After actually seeing these things around, I know it's going to sound odd coming from me, but that car is a bit over the top.
It looks great in pictures, and is the opposite of the Monaro-GTO in appearence, but in person, that car borders on outrageous!
(sorry dream '94 Z28, that car is no where near a  in person!)
The sheetmetal on the VE is highly styled, and that doesn't really carry over in pictures unless it's under the right light at the right angle. The wheel bulges look almost aftermarket from a distance. The sheetmetal has a crease running the length of the body that combined with the side window angle makes the car look like a wedge that's flying while standing still. The hood & nose have agressive creases. Then on top of all that, the HSV version adds extremely pronounced ground effects and.... that spoiler. Then if that isn't enough, the shade of red that some of these cars are painted should come with a warning..... "Don't look directly at car without eye protection and a radiation suit!"
On the streets, the HSV version of the Commodore stands out like a Ferrari F40 at a Chevy Aveo convention. A far better choice for Pontiac is the Holden Calais V8. It still has the 6.0 V8, it still gets from 0-60 in under 5 seconds, you can still get the 6 speed manual, in black & the midnight blue the chrome around the windows stand out and it gives an air of being a BMW level vehicle, and the thing still handles. Add a more sedate spoiler, and the car will get more than it's share of attention.

BTW: I finally got to drive one. I'll post it in a thread when I get back.
